하죠. 그리고 1인용 침대는 'Single Bed'라고 말하구요
미국에서 편도용 차표를 'One-way ticket'이라고 하는
데, 영국에서는 'Single ticket'이라고 합니다. 음악이
담겨있는 Record중 양쪽에 한 곡씩 들어있는 판을
'Single'이라고 합니다. 그리고 결혼하지 않은 미혼인
상태를 'Single'이라고 이야기 합니다. 미혼인 남녀가
찾아가는 술집을 'Single Bar'라고 하고, 결혼하지
않고 혼자사는 생활을 'Single life'라고 합니다. 배우자
가 없이 혼자 자녀를 키우는 사람을 'Single Parent'라고
도 합니다. 운동 경기에서도 'Single'의 뜻이 사용되기도
하는데, Tennis나 탁구에서 '복식'을 Double, '단식'을
'Single'이라고 하죠. Golf에서 handy가 10 미만인 실력
을 Single이라고 합니다. 야구에서 Single은 1루타를 치
는 것을 말하고, Single home-run은 보통 말하는 "솔로
홈런"을 일컫습니다. 스키장의 Lift앞에서 누가 Single
이라고 물으면, '같이 Lift를 타도 되겠는가?'라는
뜻이 됩니다.
