외국어로서 영어를 공부하는 것을 언어학에서 분류할 때 영어권 밖에서
배우는 것은 Foreign Language..이렇게 이야기 하고요. 영어권 나라에서
배우는 영어는 Second Lagnuage.. 이렇게 분류가 되지요. 여러분께서
영어 교육학에 관심이 있으신 분은 ESL이라던가 EFL이라는 말을 들어 보
셨을 겁니다. ESL(English as a Second Language) 라는 말이구요. EFL은
(English as a Foreign Language) 라는 말이거든요. 바로 이런 것도 이
앞에서 분류된 관점에서 분류된 명칭입니다. 가끔 Second language를 우
리 학교에서 공부하는 제 2외국어와 혼동하고서 우리의 Seond language
는 영어입니다..하시는 분이 있는데요, 그것은 잘못 된 겁니다. 우리에
게는 Second language는 없습니다. 전부다 Foreign language입니다.

숫자로 된 기계어로 프로그램을 짜는 대신 암기하기 좋게 기계어 명령에 이름을 붙인 니모닉(mnemonic)을 이용하여 프로그램을 짜도록 해주는 프로그래밍 언어. 이는 기계어와 1대 1로 대응되는 저급언어이지만 기계어보다는 사용하기가 편리하다. 어셈블리 언어는 컴퓨터 기종마다 모두 다르고, 고급언어보다 사용하기가 매우 불편하므로 현대에는 꼭 필요한 경우가 아니면 일반적으로 잘 사용하지 않는 추세이다. 하지만 컴퓨터의 하드웨어에 밀접히 관련된 시스템 프로그램을 작성하거나 프로그램의 수행속도를 최대한 빠르게 해야 할 필요가 있을 때는 고급언어보다는 어셈블리 언어를 사용하는 것이 효율적이다.
