사이버펑크(Cyberpunk):사이버와 펑크(Punk)의 합성어. 펑크는 70년대
이후의 저항문화와 그 성향을 가진 집단을 가리킨다. 따라서 사이버 펑크는
컴퓨터로 대표되는 정보기술에 지배되는 사회에 저항하는 사람들이나
그들의 운동이라는 한가지 뜻과 함께 그러한 문제를 다룬 문화장르-문학
영화 등을 동시에 말한다. '뉴로맨서'는 사이버펑크 소설의 효시로 불린다.
미국의 경우 60년대 히피, 70년대 펑크에 이어 80년대말 이후 나타난
사이버펑크를 대표적 반문화로 보고 있다.
사이버펑크는 세기말적 허무주의에 침윤된 외곬수형 인간을 양산하는
문화로 인식되기도 하지만 이들은 컴퓨터에 능숙하고 오히려 그 기술을
이용해 새로운 유토피아의 가능성을 찾는다는 점에서 이전의 반문화들과는
다르다.
In the language of clothes, the Punk style was a demand for attention,
together with a cry of rage against those who should have paid attention
to these kids in the past but had not done so: parents who were too
immature or too exhausted; callous teachers and social workers; a
welfare state that seemed uninterested in their welfare and had no jobs

blades, the real and artificial bloodstains and scars, were intended to
offend and to frighten.
옷에 관한 말에서, 펑크 스타일은 주목해달라는 요구였으며, 동시에 이

혐오감과 공포를 조성하려는 의도였다.

attention, but for the love and care that we give to very small

아기에게 찔렀었던 끔찍했던 순간을 모든 어머니에게 상기시키지 않을 수
