DEAR ABBY: Dr. Eugene Schoenfeld *recently said in your
column that most *psychiatrists *deny that *chronic *fatigue
is a "real disease." I write to offer a different opinion,
shared by a growing number of *physicians who have studied
the scientific *literature on *chronic *fatigue syndrome ―
which now numbers several thousand *research *articles.
▲ recently: not long ago; lately: 최근에
▲ psychiatrist: a doctor trained in psychiatry: 정신과 의사
▲ deny: to declare untrue; refuse to accept: 부인하다
▲ chronic: lasting a long time or recurring again: 만성적인
▲ fatigue: weariness from labor or use: 피로
▲ physician: a doctor: 의사
▲ literature: the production of written works having
excellence of expression and dealing with ideas of permanent
or universal interest: 문학
▲ research: systematic investigation to establish facts:
학술 연구
▲ article: a piece of writing about a particular subject:

However, Gongju Institute of Forensic Psychiatry Ministry of Justice is the only medical institute of forensic psychiatry, and there are limitations in systematically treating many diseases.

"문재인 대통령은 하루 빨리 정신건강의학과에 가서 정신감정 받으시라"고 말한 것이다.
"The president should go to the Department of Psychiatry as soon as possible for a psychiatric evaluation," he said.

진단검사의학과, 병리과, 마취통증의학과, 영상의학과, 재활의학과, 정신과, 소아청소년과 및 내과 전문의를 각각 1명 이상 두어야 한다.
There should be at least one diagnostic examination, pathology, anesthesiology, radiology, rehabilitation medicine, psychiatry, pediatrics and internal medicine specialist each.

다른 정신건강의학과 약과 달리 심리적·신체적 의존이 생길 수 있어 남용하지 않도록 주의해야 한다.
Unlike other psychiatry medicines, psychological and physical dependence may arise, so it should be careful not to abuse them.

fixation (고정, 고정 단계) 1. the act or operation of holding, suturing, or fastening in a
fixed position. 2. the condition of being held in a fixed position. 3. in psychiatry, a term
with two related but distinct meanings : (1) arrest of development at a particular stage,
which like regression (return to an earlier stage), if temporary is a normal reaction to
setbacks and difficulties but if protracted or frequent is a cause of developmental
failures and emotional problems, and (2) a close and suffocating attachment to another
person, especially a childhood figure, such as one's mother or father. Both meanings are
derived from psychoanalytic theory and refer to 'fixation' of libidinal energy either in a
specific erogenous zone, hence fixation at the oral, anal, or phallic stage, or in a specific
object, hence mother or father fixation. 4. the use of a fixative (q.v.) to preserve
histological or cytological specimens. 5. in chemistry, the process whereby a substance
is removed from the gaseous or solution phase and localized, as in carbon dioxide
fixation or nitrogen fixation. 6. in ophthalmology, direction of the gaze so that the visual
image of the object falls on the fovea centralis. 7. in film processing, the chemical
removal of all undeveloped salts of the film emulsion, leaving only the developed silver
to form a permanent image.

inadequate (부적절한) 1. not adequate of sufficient; inept of unsuitable. 2. Psychiatry,
ineffectual in response to emotional, social, intellectual, and physical demands in the
absence of any obvious mental or physical deficiency.

perversion : a turning aside from the normal course; a morbid alteration of function
which may occur in emotional, intellectual, or volitional fields. In psychiatry, sexual
deviation.

psychiatric (정신과적) pertaining to or within the purview of psychiatry.

stupor (혼미) partial or nearly complete unconsciousness, manifested by the subject's
responding only to vigorous stimulation. Also, in psychiatry, a disorder marked by
reduced responsiveness.

ventilation (환기) 1. in respiratory physiology, the process of exchange of air between
the lungs and the ambient air. Pulmonary ventilation (usually measured in litres per
minute) refers to the total exchange, whereas alveolar ventilation refers to the effective
ventilation of the alveoli, in which gas exchange with the blood takes place. 2. in
psychiatry, verbalization of one's emotional problems.
