계약문서 초안의 「변경」은 alterations, changes로,
「수정·개정」은 revisions, 추가」는 additions, insertions,
「삭제」는 subtractions, omissions, taking out, deletions
등입니다. 「가령, 우선」은 tentatively 외에 provisionally도
있습니다. Valid는 「효력이 있다」로 having effect,
effective라고도 합니다.

Mr. West: It must be time to prepare a draft on the contract.

Of course there can be some minor alterations, additions, or
subtractions.
Mr. West: I see. Can I check it through? If it's okay, I'm
prepared to make a draft along the lines of this sample.
Mr. Lee: One important thing is how long the contract should last.
Mr. West: How about one year, tentatively?
Mr. Lee: I think one year is too short. It should last at
least three years.
Mr. West: Well, for the moment, we can make it valid for one
year, and if everything goes well, we can extend the
contract.

계약서는 서로 실행할 수 없는 것을 써 놓는 것도 아니고 막연한
내용을 포함시켜도 안됩니다. 나중에 문제가 발생하지 않도록
상호간의 권리와 의무를 명기하고 이것을 확인한 연후에 책임자가
사인을 하는 것이며, 영문서류가 원본이 될 경우에는 세밀하게
살펴 보아서 전문 변호사의 조언을 얻고 최종적인 태도를
결정하는 것입니다. 한국식으로 「여기는 무엇인가…」하는 것은
계약종료 후에는 통용되지 않습니다.
