^^Most reasonable people, whether in the South or North, or indeed
anywhere else, however, are aware that any unilateral coercive
method of unification that favors one side is not desirable. At the same
time, most are in broad agreement that a gradual step-by-step approach
to unification through inter-Korean personal and material exchanges,
economic cooperation and expanded trade is the best way to build
confidence and create fellow feeling.

Sociologists have noticed several things about young people today.
First, they like to hang out in malls, at coffeehouses, and in parks.
They seem to enjoy being with their friends in large open places.
Second, these young people seem to expect special treatment like not having to follow the rules.
They can also work quickly with their hands on things like computers and other electronic tools.
Fifty or sixty years ago, teenagers all wore white sailor hats.
Now something else is trendy: sports clothing.
There is, in fact, a boom in sales of sports clothes.

Writing on the Internet
- Don't type anything that you wouldn't say to someone's face.
- Remember that people judge you by your words as well as your actions, so do try to write well.
- Don't use information that someone else has already written, pretending it's yours.
- Good writing skills, as well as correct grammar and spelling, do matter.
- Don't do anything that you wouldn't do in real life.
- Express your opinions politely in chat rooms or on message boards.

When something doesn't meet our expectations, many of us operate on the assumption,
“When in doubt, it must be someone else's fault.”
You can see this assumption in action almost everywhere you look―the car isn't working properly,
so the mechanic must have repaired it incorrectly;
your expenses exceed your income, so your husband or wife must be spending too much money.
However, blaming others takes an enormous amount of mental energy.
It makes you feel powerless over your own life, because your happiness depends on the behavior of others, which you can't control.

A knowledge of the local language can help an international businessperson in some ways.
First, the person can communicate directly, without someone else to translate or explain.
Moreover, people are usually more open in their communication with someone who speaks their language.

When I started snow-boarding and then decided to turn professional, it wasn't really a career option.
There was little money in it, you know.
Even though I was ranked number one, I wasn't making a living at it.
So I just figured I would probably do something else.
Since I was always focused on computers,
I thought at some point that if I had to, I probably would go into web design or something.
That's probably what I would have done, if I had not beaten my first competitors.

If you think clowning is just putting up makeup and acting like an idiot, you are wrong.
Anybody can be an idiot, but it takes many hours of practice to make your idiocy funny.
Aha! There's the trick.
I have had thirteen years of being a funny idiot, so it came to me naturally.
But making jokes is really hard.
I have to write down ideas when they pop into my head, or else I don't remember them.
Another trick of being a clown is not to scare kids.
It is tough.
Now whenever I go to see kids, I take off the dark stuff and just wear my bright undershirt,
making kids relaxed and willing to enjoy my show.

Everyone will have to educate themselves the best they can, become an expert in some niche, so that they can be in the right place to advise someone else or perform some other service.

The ability to concentrate and to use your time well is everything if you want to succeed in business―or almost anywhere else, for that matter.
Ever since college I've always worked hard during the week while trying to keep my weekends free for family and recreation.
Except for periods of real crisis I've never worked on Friday night, Saturday, or Sunday.
Every Sunday night I get the adrenaline going again by making an outline of what I want to accomplish during the upcoming week.
It's essentially the same schedule I developed at Lehigh.

They are afraid, above all else, of failing, of disappointing or displeasing the many anxious adults around them, whose limitless hopes and expectations for them hang over their heads like a cloud.

Americans see much of life as a race for success.
For them, equality means that everyone should have equal chance to enter the race and win.
In other words, equality of opportunity may be thought of as an ethical rule.
It helps ensure that the race for success is a fair one and that a person does not win just because he or she was born into a wealthy family.
President Abraham Lincoln expressed this belief in the 1860s when he said, "We wish to allow the humblest man an equal chance to get rich with everybody else.
When one starts poor, as most do in the race of life, a free society is such that he knows he can better his condition: he knows that there is no fixed condition of labor for his whole life."

There are, on the other hand, many good reasons against owning a car.
First, it can be very expensive.
The price of fuel continues to rise and car insurance can cost three or four hundred dollars a year.
In addition, it is expensive to maintain and repair a car.
A simple tune-up can cost $50.
In an urban area, it might also be expensive to park the car.
Second, owning a car can cause worry and stress.
It is exhausting to drive in rush-hour traffic, or to drive around and around looking for a parking space.
If you leave your car on the street, it might get stolen.
That is something else to worry about.
Finally, everyone needs to think about pollution and energy problems.
Air pollution and noise pollution increase as more and more people drive cars.

In doing this I passed by many food stands where fried chicken and half-moon apple pies were piled high and made to present a most tempting appearance.
At that time it seemed to me that I would have promised all that I expected to possess in the future to have gotten hold of one of those chicken legs or one of those pies.
But I could not get either of these, nor anything else to eat.

DEAR ABBY : I'm glad you advised that 15-year-old girl against dating boys
of a different religion if she had no intentions of marrying out of her faith.
I was raised in a strict Baptist home, but dated boys I knew I could not marry. I
fell deeply in love with a Jewish boy, but I married someone else. That was over 30
years ago, and I still dream of my first love. Now I wish I had either married him
or not set myself up to fall in love with a man I could not marry.
I REMEMBER MOREY

All of my studies indicate that a decided majority of the Americans are
dissatisfied with their jobs and wish they were doing something else.
What about you? Is your job work or fun?
If it is work, then you would probably be wise to take immediate steps
to get out of it. Your life is too short and too valuable to waste in work.
If you don't get out now, you may end up like the frog that is placed
in a pot of fresh water on the stove. As the temperature in the pot
gradually increased, the frog feels restless and uncomfortable, but
not uncomfortable enough to jump out. Without being aware that a change
is taking place, he is gradually lulled into unconsciousness―boiled.

Voices that care
Lonely fear lights up the sky
Can't help but wonder why you're so far away
There you had to take a stand
In someone else's land
Life can be strange

I wish we never had to choose
To either win or lose
We could find a away
But I won't turn my back again
Your honor I'll defend
So hurry home 'till then

Stand tall stand prond
Voices that care are crying out loud
And when you close your eyes tonight
Feel in your heart how our love burns bright

I'm not here to justify the cause
Or to count up all the loss
That's all been done before
I just can't let you feel alone
When there's so much love at home
We're sending out to you
-
All the courage that you've known
The bravery you've shown
Clearly lights the way
We pray to make the future bright
To make the wrong things right
Right or wrong
We're all praying you remain strong
That's why we're all here and singing along

VOICES THAT CARE
Sung by Voices That Care
-
Lonely fear lights up the sky
Can't help but wonder why you're so far away
There you had to take a stand
In someone else's land
Life can be strange
-
I wish we never had to choose
To either win or lose
We could find a away
But I won't turn my back again
Your honor I'll defend
So hurry home 'till then
-
(*)
Stand tall stand proud
voices that care are crying out loud
And when you close your eyes tonight
Feel in our heart how our love burns bright
-
I'm not here to justify the cause
Or to count up all the loss
That's all been done before
I just can't let you feel alone
When there's so much love at home
We're sending outto you
-
All the courage that you've known
The bravery you've shown
Clearly lights the way
We pray to make the future bright
To make the wrong things right
Right or wrong
We're all praying you remain strong
That's why we're all here and singing along
-
Stand tall stand proud
Voices that care are crying out loud
And when you close your eyes tonight
Know in your heart how our love burns bright
-
Voices that care are crying out loud
And when you close your eyes tonight
Feel in your heart how our love burns bright
-
You are the voice
You are the light
-
(* Repeat twice)
-
You are the voice
And the guiding light
Feel in your heart how our love burns bright

Man has long existed on this earth as a single species.
Apparently throughout human wanderings separate groups of men have stayed long enough in a given area to produce the kind of subspecies called a race.
Thus white, yellow, and Negro races developed, but they did not remain "pure," or, put in another way, man is and long has been a mongrel.
Hardly does he get started breeding a variant that might become a new species when others come into the group, or else the group forces itself onto others, and the process is ended.

Two conceptions of science embody two different valuations of scientific life and of the purpose of scientific inquiry.
According to the first conception, science is above all else an imaginative and exploratory activity, and the scientist is a person taking part in a great intellectual adventure.
The alternative conception suggests that science is above all else a critical and analytical activity and the scientist is pre-eminently a person who requires evidence before he or she delivers an opinion, and when it comes to evidence is hard to please (Medawar, 1991).

Teaching can be more like guiding and assisting than forcing information
into a supposedly empty head. If you have a certain skill you should be
able to share it with someone. You do not have to get certified to
convey what you know to someone else or to help them in their attempt to
teach themselves. All of us, from the very youngest children to the
oldest members of our cultures should come to realize our own potential
as teachers.

At the same time, other aspects of the Punk Look appealed not only for
attention, but for the love and care that we give to very small
children, especially to injured ones. After all, where else had we seen
that fluffy hair, those pale scratched faces and scraped knees, those
torn shirts and jeans? As for that Punk trade- mark, the outsize safety
pin stuck through a cheek or earlobe, it could not help but remind every
mother of the awful moment when she ran one just like it into her
darling instead of his nappie.

The females no longer have the energy to incubate.

They lock together in tightly packed huddles as they struggle to keep warm.
Speeding up the action reveals how these huddles constantly shift and change

They may learn that questions whose meanings seem perfectly obvious to them are
not clearly understood by others, or that questions which seemed entirely
objective to them appear to be highly biased to someone else.

You play anything else?

there was somebody else in this room.

Do you think a jury will understand your "adjustments,"

Yeah.

They don't even say how much money they want,
they just say that they'll call us in six hours.
Did you let anyone else touch this note?
Police or a relative, anyone?
No, just us, why?
Well, because the person who touched it before you, has your son.
And he's just left us the first piece of a puzzle.

Yeah. He worked freelance mostly.
He won a "bandy" award for that one.
So he worked for an ad agency. What else did he do for a living?
That's it, as far as I know.

How many times do we have to go through this, George? 5, 10?

Just a normal amount of long time.
But it wouldn't matter to me if you've been with someone else.
