Samsung Electronics Co. said yesterday that it has developed a
29-inch television set which also provides Internet and PC
on-line services.
삼성전자는 9일 인터넷과 PC통신 서비스가 가능한 29인치 TV를 개발
했다고 발표했다.
The Internet TV can call up local on-line services, including
Unitel, Chollian and Hitel, as well as data from the Internet
onto the TV screen, using Web Browser software by Diba Inc. of
the United States, he said.
이 인터넷 TV는 유니텔-천리안-하이텔등 국내 PC통신뿐 아니라 미
국 디바(DIBA)사(社)의 웹브라우저를 채용,인터넷 정보까지 TV화면으
로 불러볼 수 있다고 회사측은 말했다.
In contrast to the 4-percent hike in the local-call rate, the
charges for the computer on-line service will go down by 10.5
percent.

On the surface, e-commerce appears to offer a big environmental bonus by eliminating hundreds of thousands of trips to the shopping mall.
A closer look, however, reveals that e-commerce may not be so friendly to the environment.
On-line book shopping, for example, may reduce energy use by less frequent visits to bookstores, but this actually creates more serious problems.
Every book ordered on the Web is heavily packaged and travels on a transportation network.
Instead of shipping, say, 10 copies of “Harry Potter” in one box to a bookstore, 10 boxes with one copy are shipped to e-commerce customers.
After all, this method requires more plastic bags which take a long time to decay.

The term "Internet addiction" refers to the compulsive need to log on to the Internet to ward off loneliness or complex feelings and emotions.
