A Los Angeles man makes a practice of saying the most outrageous
things in elevators to see what reaction he gets from other passengers. The
other day he was telling a friend, "I was on the No. 38 bus going to Santa
Monica when this girl got on completely naked..." He was interrupted by a
little old lady who said, "The 38 bus doesn't go to Santa Monica."

Two years later, in a drunken rage, he killed his old friend Cleitus, and

I look forward to old age without dismay. When Lawrence of Arabia was
killed I read in an article contributed by a friend that it was his
habit to ride his motor-bicycle at an excessive speed with the notion
that an accident would end his life while he was still in full
possession of his powers and so spare him the indignity of old age.
If this is true it was a great weakness in that strange and somewhat
theatrical character. It showed want of sense. For the complete life,
the perfect pattern, includes old age as well as youth and maturity.

She came across an old friend yesterday.

Recently, I was in a restaurant when a woman and a young boy sat down
at the neighboring table. I happened to hear their conversation, The
woman asked: "So, how have you been?". And the boy, no more than seven
or eight years old, replied, "Frankly, I've been a little depressed
lately." This remained in my mind because it strengthened my belief that
children were changing. As I remember, my friend and I didn't realize we
were "depressed" until high school. The proof of a change in children has
been increasing steadily. Children don't seem childlike anymore. Children
speak, dress, and behave more like adults than in the past. Little girls
wearing earrings and designer dresses are not uncommon. Boys wearing
hairs styles like movie stars aren't rare anymore. These changes are not
without reason. In the past, children learned the secrets of adulthood
very slowly. Today, however, TV, computers, and the media are pushing
children into adult roles. Indeed, the amount of information available to
children is quickening the beginning of adulthood.

This used to be my playground
Madonna
**
This used to be my playground
This used to be childhood dream
This used to be the place I ran to
Whenever I was in need of a friend
Why did it have to end
And why do they always say
-
Don't look back
Keep your head held high
Don't ask then why
Because life is short
And before you know you're feeling old
And your heart is breaking
Don't hold on to the past
Well that's too much to ask
-
** repeat
-
No regrets
But I wish that you were here with my
Well than there's hope yet
I can see your face in out secret place
You're not just a memory
Say good-bye to yesterday
Those are words I'll never say
-
This used to be my playground
This used to be our pride and joy
This used to be the place we ran to
That no one in the world could dare destroy
-
This used to be our playground
This used to be our childhood dream
This used to be the place we ran to
The best things in life are always free
Wishing you were here with me

2. desert:

◆ meet, see, encounter
meet, see,그리고 encounter 모두 '...
meet: '...
I met him in front of my office, but we passed by each other without stopping because we were so busy at the time.
If it is possible, I want to meet her one more time even if we just meet in passing.
I have to see a doctor this afternoon because I have a terrible headache.
I have to see my teacher to discuss my late work.
I encountered a my old friend on my sister's wedding.

무심코 'We are lovers.'
A : Is he your boyfriend?
B : No, he's just my old friend.
Are you two going steady?
Are you going out with him?
A : Are you still going out with him?
B : No, I broke up with him a short time ago.

friend, comrade, companion, pal, associate
He is a friend of mine :
Many of his comrades were killed in the battle :
Pelle now looks up his old friends, especially an old companion from Bornholm named Morten.
I have a pen pal :
I will be there with a business associate who will also act as my interpreter.

Gail : You know, but IF YOU JUST GAVE IT A CHANCE..
you'd make some nice friends.
* you'd = you would
Erik : Why can't I go see dad?
Gail : Well, CALL him.
If he says yes, I'LL PUT YOU ON THE NEXT PLANE.
Go ahead.
You know, you and his little friend Cindy could go to the
movies and get in for half price.
Cindy(신디)는 전 남편의
Erik : She's twenty-three, Mom.
Gail : Oh, amazing. Old enough to drink.
Erik : Yeah, but she doesn't.
