Let`s wind things up now and then we can all go home.

가끔: now and then, now and again

S1 : Hey. Here comes the teacher. Let's be quiet.
T : What's up today? It's a little noisy.
S2 : Nothing much.
T : Nothing? Things seem a little fishy.
S3 : Actually we were discussing the field trip next week.
T : What about it?
S3 : Where we were going and what we needed to bring with us.
T : OK. Now then, let's straighten up the desks and chairs.
S3 : Would you give us some more minutes to discuss?
T : Not now. You can talk it later during the break.
Let's begin class.

S1 : What game is it today?
T : A guessing game. First of all, let's make teams. Any good idea?
S2 : Rocks-papers-scissors.
T : Anyone who wins is team "A." The others are team "B." Sounds good?
S1 : Why not?
T : Then, play rocks-papers-scissors with your partner. Are you finished?
S1 : Yes.
T : Now listen carefully to what I am saying and guess the word. Do you understand?
S1 : Of course. I'm sure I'll know the answer.
T : Great! Today team "A" won the guessing game 4 to 1. Congratulations!

Roger now tours the country, speaking to groups about what it takes to be a winner, no matter who you are.
“The only difference between you and me is that you can see my handicap, but I can't see yours.
We all have them.
When people ask me how I've been able to overcome my physical handicaps, I tell them that I haven't overcome anything.
I've simply learned what I can't do ― such as play the piano or eat with chopsticks ― but more importantly, I've learned what I can do.
Then I do what I can with all my heart and soul.”

One day, a poor man named Scott, came to visit Taylor.
He said, “Taylor, I need your help. I am a poor man, a man with no money.”
Taylor looked at him kindly and answered, “I'll help you. Tell me what's wrong.”
Scott said, “Yesterday I stopped in front of the door of a restaurant.
The restaurant belonged to a rich man.
I only smelled the food.
However, he wanted me to pay him for the food.
And he called the judge.
The judge said I must go to the court today.
Please Taylor, can you help me?”
In the court the rich man began shouting angrily at Scott.
And the judge asked Scott to pay him right now.
Taylor stepped forward and then said, “This poor man is my elder brother. I will pay you instead.”
After he heard this, the rich man smiled, thinking about his payment.
Then Taylor took a bag of money from his belt, a bag of copper coins.
He bent down next to the rich man and shook the bag.
“Listen. Do you hear this sound?” said he.
“Of course I hear it,” shouted the rich man impatiently.
“Well, then,” answered Taylor, “the problem is solved. The debt is paid.
My brother has smelled your food, and you have heard his money.”
The poor man was saved.
Taylor

Jennie Ruiz is a computer genius.
When she was only four years old, she began using her brother's computer.
Just using the computer was not enough for Jennie, though.
Soon, she was making up her own computer games.
She would get an idea for a game.
Then she would write a program for it.
News about Jennie's exciting games spread quickly.
Now, Jennie has her own computer business.
She creates games, and sells them in stores all over the area.
“That's just the beginning,” she says, pointing to a keyboard and screen on her desk.
“Soon I'll be selling the JennieⅠ,” she says.
“It's wonderful. And it's just for kids.”
Jennie Ruiz
Jennie

Your blood should normally contain a certain amount of water and salt.
This is also true of the tissues.
Now, suppose this balance is upset for some reason such as a long hike.
Then, your blood draws water from the tissues of your body in order to keep its balance constant.
As the water is being removed from the tissues, it registers in your brain.
The brain sends signal to the throat, making it contract.
This contraction makes you feel thirsty.

The more heartless our community becomes, the less space we seem to have in our hearts for others.
Nearly all the people you happen to meet in life merit your consideration.
Many of them will be there to help you to deliver your pizza, bag your groceries, and make you coffee.
And millions more people, most of whom you will never meet, won't help you, indeed can't help you,
and may not even be able to help themselves.
They also deserve your respect.
If you are not in the habit of being nice to all these people, then get in the habit now.

Imagine you were asked to work overtime and you didn't want to do it.
Then you were told you would get paid twice as much money.
You would probably become more cooperative.
This idea also works with children.
A few years ago, a child of mine wouldn't brush her teeth before going to bed.
Nothing we did could make her change her mind.
Then, my parenting class teacher recommended that I should give her rewards.
So I used this simple phrase, which worked wonders:
“If you go and brush your teeth now, we will have time to read three stories instead of just one.”
Whenever she heard it, she would jump up and brush her teeth right away.

Before Social Security existed, Americans worried that they would not be able to support themselves if they lost their jobs.
A worker who lost his job could turn to local groups that provided charity or relief, but many Americans were ashamed to ask for help.
Then in 1935 Congress passed the Social Security Act.
This law said that almost all workers had to pay a small part of their income to a special government fund.
Then if the worker lost his job, the government would pay him money out of the fund.
Now Americans knew that if they lost their jobs, they would still be able to survive.
And they were not ashamed to take Social Security because they knew that they had already worked to earn it.

Anthropologists used to believe that romantic love was invented by Europeans in the Middles Ages.
By romantic love, they mean an intense attraction and longing to be with the loved person.
Some anthropologists believed that this kind of love spread from the west to other cultures only recently.
Others thought that it may have existed in some other cultures, but only among the rich and privileged.
Now, however, most anthropologists agree that romantic love has probably always existed among humans.
It is not surprising, then, that stories of romance, like Romeo and Juliet, are found in many cultures around the world.

Dean Rusk, former secretary of state and now professor of international
law at the University of Georgia in Athens, is constantly called upon to give
interviews, and is accordingly well prepared. One day last spring, arriving
early at the university's studio, where a television show was to be taped, he
took his place on the set and reviewed his notes while the crew completed
preparations. The floor manager announced that they would begin in five minutes.
Rusk produced a compact from his pocket, took out a powder puff and applied it
to his bald head, which would otherwise reflect the TV lights. He then put the
compact away and announced he was ready to begin.

A University of North Carolina English instructor introduced to his class what he
termed "one of the finest, most elegant lines of poetry in the English language." He
had duly recorded it in all of his notebooks as a constant reminder of its beauty.
"Walk with light!" he quoted, and then repeated softly and blissfully to himself,
"Walk with light...now isn't that a wonderful thing to say to someone?" The class
agreed, of course, and wished to know the author.
"I suppose it's anonymous," said the instructor. "It's written on a sign at an
intersection of Franklin Street."

A girl doing her homework asked her father to explain the difference
between anger and exasperation. Going to the telephone, he dialed a
number and had his daughter listen. "Hello," he said to the man who
answered, "is Melvin there?"
"There's no one here named Melvin," was the reply. "Why don't you look
up numbers before you dial them?"
The father dialed the number again. "Hello, is Melvin there?" he asked.
"Now look!" the man yelled. "I just told you that there's no Melvin
here!" Then he slammed down the receiver.
"You see," the father explained, "that was anger. Now I'll show you
exasperation."
Again he dialed the number, and when a voice roared "Hello," he calmly
said. "This is Melvin. Has there been any calls for me?"

All of my studies indicate that a decided majority of the Americans are
dissatisfied with their jobs and wish they were doing something else.
What about you? Is your job work or fun?
If it is work, then you would probably be wise to take immediate steps
to get out of it. Your life is too short and too valuable to waste in work.
If you don't get out now, you may end up like the frog that is placed
in a pot of fresh water on the stove. As the temperature in the pot
gradually increased, the frog feels restless and uncomfortable, but
not uncomfortable enough to jump out. Without being aware that a change
is taking place, he is gradually lulled into unconsciousness―boiled.

A barber got converted one Sunday, so he thought it his duty to speak to
all who came into his shop in future about religion.
Now, the barber was a very fluent speaker on most topics, but when it
came to religion he hardly knew how to begin.
One morning a Mr. Jones came to be shaved. The barber began to shave him.
All at once he said: "Mr. Jones." Mr. Jones looked up, and was so
startled that he got the brush in his mouth.
"Mr. Jones," repeated the barber; but still he could get no further with
his speech.
The barber then walked up to the strap which was hung on the wall, and
began to rub the razor backward and forwards on it.
"Mr. Jones," said he. "Mr. Jones, are you prepared to die?"
It is said that Mr. Jones jumped out of the window.

Dear sir,
Application for the post of Personal Secretary I have seen your advertisement for the post of personal secretary (PS68) in today's Daily News.
I am very keen to apply for this position and therefore now have pleasure in enclosing a copy of my curriculum vitae for your consideration.
My main reason for wishing to change my present employment is that I wish to widen my experience and am anxious to work for a firm that is trading with Western Europe.
As you will be able to see from my C.V. , I studied English in London from 1989 to 1992 and so I believe I now have quite a good command of English.
I would also like to add my brother is currently attached to our trade delegation to the European Community in Brussels, and so I feel I am quite familier with the trading situation in Western Europe.
I am able to attend for interview at any time at your convenience, but would be grateful if you would give me two days' notice.
If you decide to appoint me, I must give my present employers one month's notice, but will then be able to take up my duties at once.
I assure you I will always do my best to prove entirely satisfactory.
With all good wishes,
Your faithfully,
Lilian Au Yeung(Miss)
Incls.

People are happy with developments in medicine. Then they worry about
the increased number of births. Scientists make great advances in
agricultural chemistry, greatly increasing our food supply. Then our
rivers become so polluted that we cannot even swim in them. We are happy
with the developments in air transportation and impressed by the great
airplanes. Then we are frightened by the horrors of air crash or air war.
We are excited by the fact that space can now be entered. But we will
undoubtedly see the other side there, too.

A schoolgirl went to a famous musician's concert. The concert lasted for
an hour. When it was over, she applauded his passionate performance and
clapped for a long time. Then at the stage door the girl asked the
violinist for his autograph. "Sorry, not now." he replied impatiently,
"My hands are tired." "Instead of taking offense, the schoolgirl
replied, "My hands are tired, too ! " This witty remark defeated the
musician. So she got the autograph, and the two parted good friends !

I Need You..
Sung by America
We used to laugh, we used to cry.
We used to bow our heads then wonder why.
But now you're gone.
I guess I'll carry on and make the best of what
you're left to me.
Left to me,left to me --.
I need you like the flower needs the rain.
You know I need you.
Guess I'll start it all again.
You know I need you like the winter needs the spring.
You know I need you.
I need you, I need you...

- Wonderful Tonight sung by Eric Clapton
It's late in the evening
She is wondering what clothes to wear
She puts on her makeup
And brushes her long blonde hair
And then she asks me
"Do I look all right?"
And I say "Yes, you look wonderful tonight"
We go to a party
And everyone turns to see this beautiful lady
is walking around with me
And then she asks me "Do you feel all right?"
And I say "Yes,I feel wonderful tonight"
I feel wonderful
because I see the love light in your eyes
And the wonder of it all is
that you just don't realize how much I love you
It's time to go home now
And I've got an aching head
So I give her the car keys
And she helps me to bed
And then I tell her as I turn out the light
I say "My darling you're wonderful tonight
Oh, my darling you're wonderful tonight"

== The Stranger ==
-- Billy Joel
Well we all have a face that we hide away forever
and we take them out and show ourselves when everyone
some are satin some are steel
some are silk and some are leather
they'er the faces of the stranger
but we love to try them on
Well we all fall in love
but we disregard the danger
though we share so many secrets here are some we never tell
why were you so surprised ? that you never saw the stranger
did you ever let your lover see the stranger in yourself
don't be afraid to try again
everyone goes south every now and then woo woo
you've done it why can't someone else ?
you should know by now you've been there yourself

You know I won't forget the times to share together holding
hands and walking in the park
Sometime we'll have to do it all again
We were so happy then
I have no regrets
Can't you tell from the look on my face that I love you
more today
The first time I looked into your eyes I cried
Do you remember the first time we fell in love
You looked into my eyes wiped the tears away the first
time when we fell in love
Although some time has passed I still remember just like
it was yesterday
But time is moving fast
The love I have for you time won't every change
I will always feel the same now until the end
Memories we shared will live forever
Deep inside my heart I know I'll never forget

< Radio Romance > Sung By 티파니
From who? Just from the one who loves you baby
I see you baby every single day holding onto my best
friend
But you don't see me
So I make the same request now every single night
Going out from me to you on the dedication line(?)
My secret admiration I won't reveal
I wouldn't want to hurt no one by telling how I feel(?)
The DJ knows my voice now
He even knows my choice now
He never says my name
He just says from the one who loves you baby
One night you'll hear a song
And then you'll know just who is from
I see you baby every single day holding onto my best
friend
But you don't see me

Breath again
By Tony braxton
If I never feel you in my arms again
If I never feel you tendal kiss again
If I never hear I love you now and then
we now never make to you once again
Please understand
If love ends
Then I promise you I promise you that that I shall never breath
again
Breath again breath again that I shall never breath again breath
again
And I can't stop thinking about you thinking about thinking about
the way things used to be
And I can't stop thinking about about the love the you made to me
And I can't get your out of my head
How in the world we i began to lets you walk out of my life
And blow my heart away
And I can't stop carring about about the apple of my eye
And I can't stop doing without without the cental of my life

I'll always remember you like a child girl
You know I've seen a lot of what the world can do
And it's breaking my heart in two
Cause I never wanna see you sad girl
Don't be a bad girl

But if you wanna leave take good care
Hope you make a lot of nice friends out there
But just remember there's a lot of bad and beware

Against all odds
How can I just let you walk away
Just let you leave without a trace
When I stand here taking every breath with you
You're the only one who really knew me at all
-
How can you just walk away from me
When all I can do is watch you leave
'Cause we shared the laughter
and the pain and even shared the tears
You're the only one who really knew me at all
-
So take a look at me now
There's just an empty space
There's nothing left here to remind me
Just the memory of your face
-
Take a good look at me now
There's just an empty space
And you coming back to me
Is against all the odds
And that's what I got to take
-
I wish I could just make you turn around
Turn around and see me cry
There's so much I need to say to you
So many reasons why
You're the only one who really knew me at all

So take a look at me now
There's just an empty space
There's nothing left here to remind me
Just the memory of your face

Take a good look at me now
There's just an empty space
But to wait for you is all I can do
And that's what I've got to face

Take a good look at me now
'Cause I'll still be standing there
And you coming back to me is against all the odds
And that's what I got to take
-
Take a good look at me now
-
