In North America, physical punishment by parents, as long as it is not severe, is seen as necessary discipline by many people.
However, sociological researchers and parents have insisted that we seriously consider stopping the physical punishment of children.
The most important reason is that all people have the right to protect themselves, and children are people, too.

SARS is a serious illness that has recently been reported in Asia, North America, and Europe.
The primary way that SARS appears to spread is by close person-to-person contact.
Most cases of SARS have involved people who cared for or lived with someone with SARS,
or had direct contact with infectious material from a person who has SARS.
Potential ways in which SARS can be spread include touching the skin of other people or objects that are infected and then touching your eyes, nose, or mouth.
It is also possible that SARS is spread more broadly through the air or by other ways that are currently not known.

The bush dog of South America has short legs but wide paws.
It lives near rivers, so the short legs and wide paws help it to swim.
The maned wolf lives in the grasslands of South America.
It has long, thin legs.
With them, the wolf can look out over the tall grasses.
The Arctic fox has tiny ears and thick fur.
As you can tell from its name, it lives in the frozen North.
There, the temperature can drop to 50 degrees or more below zero.
Because the fox’s ears are so small, they don’t lose much heat.
And the extra-thick fur helps keep the fox warm.

I had always thought of hurricanes as something mankind could do without.
But recently I learned that they are necessary to maintain a balance in nature.
These tropical storms, with winds up to 150 miles an hour, accompanied by heavy rains, glaring lightning, and roaring thunder, can be devastating.
Yet scientists tell us they are very valuable.
They scatter a large percentage of the oppressive heat which builds up at the equator, and they bring enough rainfall in North and South America.
Therefore, scientists no longer try to prevent them from being formed.
They are convinced that hurricanes do more good than harm.

have long believed that either a change in climate or widespread disease killed the world’s huge animals, such as the woolly mammoth.
Some evidence suggests, though, that these theories may be incorrect.
In Australia, scientists have dug up bone and eggshell fossils that indicate a massive die-off of large animals about 46,000 years ago.
This extinction occurred after humans arrived on that continent about 52,000 years ago.
These time frames suggest that people are responsible for the animals' disappearance.
Similar evidence comes from North America.
Humans arrived there about 13,000 years ago.
Approximately 1,200 years after their appearance, about thirty species of large animals were gone.

In North America, it is the custom to leave an amount of money to help pay for the service of certain workers such as waitresses, waiters, and taxi drivers.
This money is called a tip or gratuity.
Most people tip between 15 to 20 percent of the cost of the food.

"They are aiming at the whole of Central and possibly later South America
and, I'm sure, eventually North America. What we're doing is trying to stop
this destabilizing force of guerrilla warfare and revolution from being
exported in here."

When the first colonists arrived in North America the hand of friendship
was extended by the red man, agreements were drawn up and boundaries
were laid down. As time passed, however, more and more of the Indian
lands were swallowed up by the white settlers. Humiliated and confused,
the red man was pushed further west until there was scarcely enough room
for him in a land that was rightfully his. Some of the greatest and most
far-sighted of the Indian chiefs saw that the only chance for the Indians
was in uniting the tribes against their common enemy. But the habits of
the Indians made this impossible. Inter-tribal warfare was their way of
life.

About 200 million years ago, the plates at the Earth's surface formed a
"supercontinent" called Pangaea. When this supercontinent started to
tear apart because of plate movement, Pangaea first broke into two large
continental masses with a newly formed sea that grew between the land
areas as the depression filled with water. The southern one ― which
included the modern continents of South America, Africa, Australia, and
Antarctica ― is called Gondwanaland. The northern one ― with North
America, Europe, and Asia ― is called Laurasia. North America tore away
from Europe about 180 million years ago, forming the northern Atlantic
Ocean.

Around the year 1500, hunting people occupied the entire northern third
of North America. They lived well from the animals with whom they shared
these lands. Hunters of sea mammals had colonized the Arctic coasts of
Canada and Greenland between four and five thousand years before.
Land-hunting people had lived throughout much of the northern interior
for at least 12,000 years.

Northern North America is part of a larger circumpolar ecological domain
that continues across the narrow Bering Strait into Siberia and northern
Europe. The overall circumpolar environment in the 1500's was not very
different from the environment of the present. This vast landmass had a
continental climate and was dominated by cold arctic air throughout a
long winter and spring season. Summer temperature ranged from near
freezing to the mid-20's Celsius, while winter temperature were often as
low as 40 degrees below zero Celsius.

In the world of birds, bill design is a prime example of evolutionary
fine-tuning. Shorebirds such as oystercatchers use their bills to pry
open the tightly sealed shells of their prey, hummingbirds have
stilettolike bills to probe the deepest nectar-bearing flowers, and
kiwis smell out earthworms thanks to nostrils located at the tip of
their beaks. But few birds are more intimately tied to their source of
sustenance than are crossbills. Two species of these finches, named for
the way the upper and lower parts of their bills cross, rather than meet
in the middle, reside in the evergreen forests of North America and feed
on the seeds held within the cones of coniferous trees.

Most of the state lies on a peninsula, bounded by the Arctic Ocean to
the north, the Bering Sea to the west, and the Pacific Ocean on the
southwest, south, and southeast. This peninsula, stretching away from
the rest of North America, forms the northwest corner of the continent.
One of the world's largest peninsulas, it is partly shared with Canada
on the east.

Before the 1500's, the western plains of North America were dominated by
farmers. One group, the Mandans, lived in the upper Missouri River
country, primarily in present-day North Dakota. They had large villages
of houses built close together. The tight arrangement enabled the
Mandans to protect themselves more easily from the attacks of others who
might seek to obtain some of the food these highly capable farmers
stored from one year to the next.
"Mandan"

The threat of winter frost is not the only reason for trees to shed leaves.

I had a dream last night where I was playing football with my kid.
That's nice.
No, no, with him.
I'm on this field, and they, they hike me the baby
And I, I know I've gotta do something 'cause the Tampa Bay defence is comin' right at me.
And I, I know I've gotta do something 'cause the Tampa Bay defence is comin' right at me.
Tampa Bay's got a terrible team.
Tampa Bay
Right, but, it is just me and the baby, so I'm thinkin' they can take us.
And so I uh, hah-hah, I just heave it down field.
What are you crazy? That's a baby!
He should take the sack?
Anyway, suddenly I'm down field,
and I realise that I'm the one who's supposed to catch him, right?
Only I know there is no way I'm gonna get there in time,
So I am running, and running, and that, that is when I woke up.
See I, I am so not ready to be a father.
Hey, you're gonna be fine.
You're one of the most caring, most responsible men in North America.
You're gonna make a great dad.
Yeah, Ross.
You and the baby just need better blocking.

The program tested in North Carolina is easy and cheap enough
that the National Institutes of Health hopes schools
throughout America will quickly adopt it.
"We're very excited about this," said Patricia Grady,
director of the National Institute of Nursing Research, which
funded the North Carolina study. "This is an opportunity to
reach children at an early age and positively influence their
lives."

This is because the material business that NFC is focusing on is centered on the domestic market, and the ODM and OEM businesses are also small in China, with sales of about 60% in North America.

There are 450 employees in 5 branches around the world, including North America, Europe, and Asia.

Researcher Cho said, "Despite the high growth rate of domestic e-commerce, a drop in China's performance is inevitable," adding, "Since March, novel coronavirus infections have spread in North America and Europe, and domestic and external uncertainties will continue."

In fact, LS Cable & System recently announced its "2030 Global Vision", which emphasizes balanced global growth beyond Asia, and LS ELECTRIC decided to establish a "global business headquarters" within the organization to enter North America, Europe, and Southeast Asia in order to find new ways abroad.

Most of the profits come from Europe and North America, and they are relatively weak in the Asian market.

The largest number of doctors from Asia, including China, was 2,136, but the Middle East, North America and Europe were also relatively large.

Lyme disease is an endemic disease common in North America and Europe but rarely occurs in South Korea.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs was also appointed as the first female manager in September last year as the first manager of North America, and all the heads of the 4th class diplomatic divisions in the US, Japan, China and Russia were filled with women.

It was pretty the same story throughout Comdex, which with 200,000-plus
conference-goers is North America's largest and most prestigious trade
show. Attendees said there was talk about Microsoft's legal headache,
but the buzz around Judge Thomas Penfield Jackson's ruling was mostly
drowned out by the latest trends in technological development.
That's partly because Jackson's ``findings of fact'' were handed down
more than a week ago, giving people plenty of time to digest them. But
it's also because he has yet to determine whether Microsoft violated
antitrust law and, if so, what remedies he should order.

Yahoo will replace Canadian Laidlaw Inc., North America's largest school

Yahoo, with a market capitalization of $56 billion, will be added to the

Being included in the S&P 500 generally means strong demand for a stock
because index funds, which seek to mimic the performance of the widely
followed S&P 500, must buy into the stock to match the returns of the
index.
One year ago, S&P added America Online Inc., the top Internet service

index.

But the acceleration of cost cutting, aggressive management of incentive costs, and lower warranty and recall expenses-largely a result of the improved quality of vehicles in North America-should allow Ford to offset the impact of the weak economic outlook,he said.
