Sony's memory stick technology is a portable, re- recordable device,
about the size of a stick of chewing gum, that can store digital data,
audio, music and pictures.

At the Comdex computer show, Sony executives did a live demonstration
with the company's Memory Stick technology, recording a live performance
by guitarist Steve Vai, an artist on Sony's Epic label, played back on a
portable Memory Stick Walkman. 소니는 이번 컴덱스쇼에서 이 기술에 대한

Digital music gadgets first made a splash last fall when Diamond
Multimedia introduced the Rio, a portable device that allows users to
transfer MP3 files off the Internet onto their personal computer, and
then store them and play them back on the portable gizmo. The Rio and
other devices like it can hold the equivalent of one hour of music, the
length of one CD.

Multimedia)사가 '리오(Rio)'란 이름으로 출시하면서 주목을 받기 시작했다.

Speculation exploded that MP3 would herald an era of limitless, free
music, but limitations quickly became obvious: The music industry thus
far has refused to release its music over the Internet until a secure
method is widely adopted for making sure they get paid for songs. Music
available on the Internet nowadays includes relatively unknown artists
and illegally posted songs.

Available in metallic gray and translucent teal or purple, it comes with
64 megabytes of RAM - enough onboard memory to store about an hour of
near-CD quality sound. It has a nice backlit display which shows song
title, track time and remaining battery power, and is compatible with
both PCs and Macs.

find the songs you've recorded or want to add to the playlist. The Rio
500 was the only unit reviewed that can be upgraded to accept the secure
music formats of the future.

quickly record and store music from CDs to MP3 files with easy to use
graphical interfaces.
