^^In general, 12 to 19 people are stationed at each of these
sub-stations working in three shifts with each team on duty for at
least 12 hours. At any one time, only one person is on duty at the box,
the other members of the team being out on patrol. This is not enough
to handle the work at the box. At least two officers should be on duty
there. And in order to have police work eight-hour shifts, and for there
to be three shifts a day, at the 3,404 boxes across the country, there
needs to be a 50 percent increase in the present 44,000 person police
force. Considerably more money from the government needs to be
spent to substantially improve the nation's police.

We eat many foods in order to live and grow. We eat grains, vegetables,
fruits, nuts, meat, and fish. We are so accustomed to a varied diet that
we usually take it for granted that other people also have a variety of
foods. Many things determine what foods people eat. Climate plays a part.
So does soil. In addition, there are many other factors which play their
part, such as the amount of money and crop land available.

In the organization of industrial life the influence of the factory upon
the physiological and mental state of the workers has been completely
neglected.
Modern industry is based on the conception of the maximum production at
lowest cost, in order that an individual or a group of individuals may
earn as much money as possible. It has expanded without any idea of the
true nature of the human beings who run the machines, and without giving
any consi- deration to the effects produced on the individuals and on
their descendants by the artificial mode of existence imposed by the
factory.

Korean institutional investors placed a total of $658 million
in foreign currency-denominated securities in 1997, 13.4
percent or $102 million less from $760 million in 1996.
외화표시증권에 (in foreign currency-denominated securities)
(money) on ~으로 표현하는데 이를 place money in (또는
제출, 지급하다 to present before ~ for (consideration,
낸다는 말은 물론 make an order for ~를 사용하면 됩니다.
He made a purchase order for 100 Samsung common
신청했다는 말이 되는데 여기서 made a purchase order 대신에
place를 써서 He placed a buy order for ~와 같이 사용해도
before ~ for의 경우에 해당되는 것으로서 구체적으로 보면 He
presented an order before the broker to buy 100 Samsung
He made an order to his
subordinate not to be late any more.
에서 made를
-
A growing number of domestic investment & trust, insurance,
and securities companies placed buy orders for more foreign
currency securities, leaving them with a total of $2.9
billion as of the end of last year on an outstanding basis,
the Bank of Korea (BOK) said yesterday.
On an outstanding basis는 지난 번에 말씀 드린 outstanding
따라서 on a basis of ~ 또는 on a ~ basis (~

[John's Diary]
After parking the car, I ran for the nearby subway station. I
didn't have a fare card with me, so I put 400 Won into the
slot of the automatic ticket vending machine and pushed the
button. But, nothing happened. I thought the damn machine was
out of order and had eaten my money, so I gave it a real hard
kick. A station attendant came up and scolded me saying the
fare had been raised to 450 Won long ago. How embarrassing. I
bought a ticket and slid through the turnstile. I found a
train already leaving. Damn, I missed the train by a second.
I didn't have a fare card with me 처럼 with me를 쓴 것은
2. Slot: Slot
3. The damn machine was out of order: Order
4. Gave it a real hard kick: 찬다고 하면 그냥 kick을 쓰지요.
take, have에 붙여 씁니다.
Push를 이런 형태로 바꾼다면 give it a push가 되겠지요. Look할
것도 take a good look하지요.
5. Station attendant came up:
Something came up. I won't be able to meet at 7.
6. Long ago: Long time ago
7. Slid: slide
8. Turnstile:
9. Missed the train by a second: 무슨무슨 차이로 할 때 by를
간발의 차이로는 by a hair('s breadth) 또는 by a
whisker를 쓰지요.
I missed the train by a hair.
I got on the plain by a hair.

Earlier, Company B took out a financial loan under the guarantee of the Korea Credit Guarantee Fund and fell into insolvency, and Company B siphoned off its assets by providing collateral to A's company in order not to pay back the money.

"In order to treat patients with the best possible care regardless of money, I had to earn money elsewhere," Director Kim said while adding, "This is why I am interested in startups by doctors and commercializing research."
