During the Second World War, Winston Churchill was the British Prime Minister.
One day he had to go to the British Broadcasting Corporation to make an
important speech to the nation.
An hour before the time of this speech, he stopped a taxi in the street
and asked the driver to take him to the BBC, but the taxi-driver, who
did not recognize him, said he could not take him anywhere just then,
because he wanted to go back to his home at the other end of London to
hear Churchill make a speech on the radio.
Churchill was so pleased when he heard this answer that he gave the man
a pound, which was worth quite a lot in those days.
"All right, get in," said the driver happily, opening the door of the
taxi. "I'll take you, and to hell with Churchill and his speech!
2차 세계대전 중 윈스턴 처칠은 영국의 수상이었다.
어느 날 그는 국민에게 중요한 연설을 하기 위해 영국방송공사로 가야 했다.
연설하기 한 시간 전에 그는 거리에서 택시를 불러 운전사에게 BBC로 데려다

I have asked Mr. Myung-joon Kim, President, Seoul Motor Co., to make a
short speech on behalf of our guests. Mr. Kim has been a valued friend
and advisor to me for over 20 years. I think his words will echo the
sentiments of all our supporters. The idea is to structure the
reception so that we will have more time for social interaction.

When you have to give a speech, you may be terrified. But it doesn't
have to be that bad. First of all, it is important to plan. Find out
everything you can about your audience. Who are they? What do they know
about your subject? Ask yourself the purpose of your speech. Use simple
expressions wherever possible. Let your personality come through so that
you make person-to-person contact with your audience.

to provide the technology for the next wave of Internet devices,
which will be much leaner and lighter than personal computers.
