That's the thinking behind BlueEyes, a project to give computers and
other computational devices the kind of visual perception we take for
granted in people.

BlueEyes starts with an intelligent camera that tracks what part of the
display screen a computer user is looking at, collecting data to make
the machine easier to use and the images on the screen more compelling.
블루아이즈는 컴퓨터사용자가 디스프레이 스크린상의 특정 부분을 응시할 때
이를 추적하는 인공지능 카메라로부터 시작한다. 이 카메라는 컴퓨터 사용이

One prototype is a gaze-initialized cursor, an application that
automatically makes the cursor appear on the screen in the user's direct
line of sight.

It's an advance that's handy, but not life-changing. However, if all the
little annoyances of computing were removed, Almaden researchers say, a
lot of the barriers to better computer-human interaction would
disappear.

Cisco Systems, the San Jose-based provider of Internet network routers
and connectors, is working with Broadcom, the Irvine-based semiconductor
maker, to develop a wireless Internet system that won't be impeded by the
line-of-sight difficulties that buildings and mountains normally present
to microwave communications.
