keloid (반흔과증식, 반흔의 과성장) 결합조직의 재생과정에서 각질에 과다한 양의 콜라겐의
생성으로 인해 날카롭게 솟은, 불규칙적인 모양의 점진적 반흔 생기는 것. 외상이나 외과적
절개 후에 피부에 생기는 흉터의 형성. 즉 조직반응은 정상적인 회복과 치유 과정에서 필
요로 하는 반흔조직의 양에서 벗어난다. 결과적으로 다소 융기되고, 단단하고 두꺼운 붉은
색의 흉터가 생기고 이는 시간이 지남에 따라 자라게 된다. 흉터의 크기가 증가되는 것은
정상적인 교원질이 조직에 침착되기 때문이다. 치료는 흉터 조직내로 corticosteroids를 주입
하는 것이 일부 환자에게서는 효과적이다. 레이저 치료도 시도되고 있으며, 약물로서 교원
질의 합성을 방해함으로써 치료하기도 한다.
