I will do my best in order not to disappoint my parent.

I spoke to her as quietly as I could in order not to offend her.

A slight delay in the execution of your order will be unavoidable, but you will not have to wait more than a week longer than the original date of delivery. We hope that it will not seriously inconvenience you.

(ANS) It was not until the early 1960s that Korea saw the situation of the teaching of English at school in some order. It was then that college teachers began to be sent abroad to study the teaching of English, language laboratories were set up one after another in high schools and colleges, the audio-lingual method was advocated, and language research institutes were set up in many universities.

``We are seriously concerned about the fact that the LDP has yet
to free itself of the legacies of Japan's imperialism and is
trying to exploit the Tokdo sovereignty issue in order to earn
votes,'' spokesman Chung Dong-young said in a statement. Rep.
Chung said that the LDP's position does not fit that of a
Japanese governing party, which should be a responsible member of
the international community.

^^In general, 12 to 19 people are stationed at each of these
sub-stations working in three shifts with each team on duty for at
least 12 hours. At any one time, only one person is on duty at the box,
the other members of the team being out on patrol. This is not enough
to handle the work at the box. At least two officers should be on duty
there. And in order to have police work eight-hour shifts, and for there
to be three shifts a day, at the 3,404 boxes across the country, there
needs to be a 50 percent increase in the present 44,000 person police
force. Considerably more money from the government needs to be
spent to substantially improve the nation's police.

In the future doctors will diagnose illnesses differently, or we may not need doctors at all.
We may be able to decide for ourselves what the problem is.
We might look up symptoms on the Internet and order a testing kit to check our blood for diseases we have.
We may not even have to do this.
We may actually have microchips in our bodies examining our blood pressure, temperature, and heartbeat on a daily basis.

Jean bought a small cellular phone for her boyfriend.
She wrapped the gift and put it on a table.
The next day, all that remained of the present was torn wrapping paper.
The woman searched her apartment for the phone, but found nothing.
She decided to dial the phone's number and heard it ringing where her dog was sleeping.
At first she thought the dog was lying on the phone, but then realized that the phone was ringing inside the dog.
She rushed the dog to the vet, who determined that the dog had indeed swallowed the phone.
The vet told the woman that her dog was not in danger and told her to let nature take its course.
The phone emerged from the dog the next day in perfect working order.

The laws of order are the rules that control changes in meaning when order changes.
“The cat caught the mouse” means something obviously different from “The mouse caught the cat.”
Order is used differently in different languages and cultures.
While order is of major importance on the sentence level in English, this is not the case in some languages.
Order also has great importance in other parts of cultural systems besides language: order of birth, order of arrival, order in line to get a ticket.
Order applies to the courses of a meal.
Consider what it would like to start dinner with dessert.

We are all very glad that the new train line has opened to take people to Euro-Disney.
However, I must report that the trains are very crowded and uncomfortable.
This is especially true at the busiest times when many people are trying to get to work.
In order to attract more visitors to the park, we must put more trains in service during peak hours.
There are also many tourists who do not speak French; therefore, we need train employees who speak English and other languages.
If we do this, I'm sure more visitors will come to Euro-Disney in comfort and safety.

Big doors swing on little hinges.
Most of the time, we don't see small hinges.
We don't pay attention to them.
They're small and hidden.
Yet without them, the door would not function at all.
Our attitudes, too, are the little hinges on which the big doors of our lives swing.
We can't control life's negative circumstances
―the doubled commutes, long lines at the grocery, or late-night calls from marketers.
Those are life's invariables.
Yet we can do something to cope with them.
We can control how we relate to them.
It's a simple choice, a simple step you can take.
The right attitude will keep all the mechanisms of your life in top working order.
Choosing the right attitude will profoundly change your life.

In order to maintain strong bones, people must eat plenty of calcium-rich food.
Leafy green vegetables and low-fat dairy products are excellent sources of calcium.
They put stiffness into your skeletal system and keep your bones from turning rubbery and fragile.
Your body uses calcium for more than keeping your bones strong, however.
Calcium also helps cells to divide, it allows muscles to work,
and it plays an important role in moving protein and nutrients around inside the body.
If you do not absorb enough calcium from what you eat, to do these things, your body will take it from your bones.
Because your body does not produce calcium, you must continually replenish the supply.

The scientist looks for order in the appearances of nature by exploring likenesses.
For order does not display itself of itself; if it can be said to be there at all, it is not there for the mere looking.
There is no way of pointing a finger or a camera at it; order must be discovered and, in a deep sense, it must be created.
What we see as we see it, is mere disorder.

Most boys have a natural inclination to admire their fathers, and a cultural gap between father and son is painful for both.
The middle-class father who at nights studies the encyclopedia in order to be able to answer his son's questions makes us smile a little, but we ought to admire him.
For such fathers this may be an introduction to lifelong education.
In an environment which values knowledge for its own sake he will not put down the encyclopedia with a sigh of relief when the son has grown up, but will want more of it.

Heraclitus pointed out that the world is characterized by opposites.
If we were never ill, we would not know what it was to be well.
If we never knew hunger, we would take no pleasure in being full.
If there were never any war, we would not appreciate peace.
And if there were no winter, we would never see the spring.
Both good and bad have their inevitable place in the order of things, Heraclitus believed.
Without this constant interplay of opposites the world would cease to exist.

You cannot give to anybody in this world what you do not have.
And therefore you must concentrate on getting.
You must become the most beautiful, sensitive, wondrous, magical, unique, fantastic person in the world to be able to have all of these things in order to give them away and share them.

My husband and I first met while we were theachers in Idaho. We planned to be
married during spring vacation in my hometown in New Mexico. Since we had such
a long distance to drive, we wrote a letter to the superintendent of schools asking
if we might be granted two days of personal leave in order to make the trip. The
superintendent replied that the school board, in determining valid reasons for
personal leave, did not include getting married. Since there was no such provision,
he went on, he would grant us the two days as medical leave - on the premise that
we were both clearly suffering form lovesickness!

Most people have covered the windowpanes of their homes or apartments with
thick black paper or tinfoil, in order to keep the lights on during the blackout. The
reason is not so much the fear of air strikes as the noisy urging of young people and
children who act as self-appointed civil defense wardens. The briefest glimpse of light
from a window starts a chorus of "Turn it off" from a dozen directions.

Sometimes slowness and depth of response are intimately connected.
Time is required in order to digest impressions, and translate them into
substantial ideas. The 'slow but sure' person, whether man or child, is
one in whom impressions sink and accumulate, so that thinking is done at
a deeper level of value than by those with a lighter load.
Many a child is rebuked for slowness, for not answering promptly, when
his forces are taking time to gather themselves together to deal
effectively with the problem at hand. In such cases, failure to afford
time and leisure encourages, if it does not actually create, habits of
speedy, but snapshot and superficial, judgment.

A young woman who was about to wed decided at the last moment to test her
sweetheart. So, selecting the prettiest girl she knew, she said to her,
though she knew it was a great risk:
"I'll arrange for Jack to take you out tonight walk on the beach in the
moonlight, a lobster supper and all that sort of thing―and I want you,
in order to put his faithfulness to the proof, to ask him for a kiss."
The other girl laughed, blushed and assented. The dangerous plot was
carried out. Then the next day the girl in love visited the pretty one
and said anxiously:
"Well, did you ask him?"
"No, dear."
"No? Why not?"
"I didn't get a chance. He asked me first."

Consolidated Aircraft has captured 69.7% of the commercial airplane market in 1995 in a sharp reversal of fortunes after 1994, when it temporarily lost its position as industry leader.
Consolidated finished the year with 386 new orders with an estimated value of $36.9 billion.
The total includes 76 aircraft not previously announced as intentions to order.
The company said preliminary data showed Consolidated market share as 69.7%, with 14.8% for the European consortium Air Europa and 9.9% for McKinley in the market share for aircraft with 90-plus seats.
In 1994, Consolidated lost its top spot to Air Europa which received 125 orders worth $8.78 billion to Consolidated's 115 orders for $6.5 billion.

One reason why stories are so popular in all cultures is that they are
generally easy to follow. The events of a story are usually told in the
order in which they occur-usually, but not always. Sometimes an author
may vary his or her style by presenting the incidents out of their
natural order. Then we as readers must rely on other clues to understand
the true sequence of events.

There is an interesting story that tells how moths adapted to their surroundings.
In 1700s light-colored trees grew in England, and on these trees rested bright-colored moths.
Since the moths were the same color as the trees, birds could not see the insects and eat them.
Then black soot from many factories made the trees in the cities a darker color.
Birds could then see the bright-colored moths and eat them.
After many years, the moths were born a dark color in order to survive in this environment.

They could hide on the dirty trees, lay their eggs, hatch their young, and survive in the modern world.

Korean institutional investors placed a total of $658 million
in foreign currency-denominated securities in 1997, 13.4
percent or $102 million less from $760 million in 1996.
외화표시증권에 (in foreign currency-denominated securities)
(money) on ~으로 표현하는데 이를 place money in (또는
제출, 지급하다 to present before ~ for (consideration,
낸다는 말은 물론 make an order for ~를 사용하면 됩니다.
He made a purchase order for 100 Samsung common
신청했다는 말이 되는데 여기서 made a purchase order 대신에
place를 써서 He placed a buy order for ~와 같이 사용해도
before ~ for의 경우에 해당되는 것으로서 구체적으로 보면 He
presented an order before the broker to buy 100 Samsung
He made an order to his
subordinate not to be late any more.
에서 made를
-
A growing number of domestic investment & trust, insurance,
and securities companies placed buy orders for more foreign
currency securities, leaving them with a total of $2.9
billion as of the end of last year on an outstanding basis,
the Bank of Korea (BOK) said yesterday.
On an outstanding basis는 지난 번에 말씀 드린 outstanding
따라서 on a basis of ~ 또는 on a ~ basis (~

We'll ship the replacement
for the damaged products immediately.

Administrative Protective Order
-
An administrative protective order is the legal mechanism that controls the limited disclosure of
business proprietary information to representatives of interested parties. The Department
authorizes the release of proprietary information under administrative protective order only when
the representatives file a request in which they agree to the following four conditions: (a) to use
the information only in the antidumping proceeding, (b) to secure the information and protect it
from disclosure to any person not subject to an administrative protective order, (c) to report any
violation of the terms of the protective order, and (d) to acknowledge that they may be subject to
sanctions if they violate the terms of the order. (Section 777(c) of the Act. See also Proprietary
Information and Proprietary Treatment.)

(Administrative Protective Order)
-

Level of Trade
-
In order to establish whether difference in levels of trade exist, the Department reviews
distribution systems, including categories of customers, selling activities, and levels of selling
expenses for each type of sale. Different levels of trade are typically characterized by purchasers
at different stages in the chain of distribution and sellers performing qualitatively and/or
quantitatively different selling activities. Different levels of trade necessarily involve difference
in selling activities, although differences in selling activities alone are not sufficient to establish
differences in levels of trade. Similarly, customer categories such as "distributor, "wholesaler,"
"retailer," and "end-user" are often use ful in identifying levels of trade, although they, too, are
insufficient in themselves to establish differences in levels of trade. Rather, the Department
evaluates differences in levels of trade based on a seller's entire market process. (Section
351.412(a)-(c) of the Department's regulations.)
-
(Level of Trade)
-
CFR) 351.412(a)-(c) 참조)

Proprietary Treatment
-
If a party requests proprietary treatment of information, and if the Department agrees that the
information is proprietary, the Department will protect the information from public disclosure. If
the Department does not agree that the information is proprietary, it will return the information
and not rely on it in the proceeding, unless the submitter agrees that it may be made public.
When requested, Department will disclose proprietary information only to United States
International Trade Commission and United States Customs Service officials and, under limited
administrative protective orders, representatives of interested parties. (Section 777(b) of the Act.
See also Administrative Protective Order.)
-
(Proprietary Treatment)
-

It is important that the scope be defined as accurately as possible to minimize future
questions about product coverage. We also want to avoid unintentional product coverage.
We which to ensure that the scope of the investigation (and any order that may result)
does not include products in which the petitioner has no interest. Attention should be
given especially to whether the prospective petitioner has unintentionally included
products that are not produced domestically.

The analyst should call the Office of Investigations at the ITC at 205-3160 to determine
whether or not the draft was filed there. The draft should be discussed with the analyst at
the ITC in order to determine whether the ITC has problems with it. The primary focus
of this discussion should be on the scope language and the industry-support aspects of the
filing (see sections III and IV of this chapter).

Every effort is made to have the same analyst review the draft and subsequently filed
petition. However, when a different reviewer is involved, the new analyst should always
coordinate with the analyst who handled the draft in order to determine whether problem
areas have been corrected. If the analyst finds additional problems with the petition, these
should not be discussed with the petitioner until they have been reviewed internally and a
meeting has been held with the OD. This meeting should take place no later than seven
days after the petition is filed.

In order to ensure that the scope of an investigation is defined as accurately as possible,
the Department undertakes two procedures. The Department announced its
implementation of these procedures in the preamble to the 1997 final regulations (62 FR
27296, 27323, May 19, 1997). First, we include in our pre-filing checklist of petition
information a check that the proposed scope of the petition is an accurate reflection of the
product for which the domestic industry is seeking relief. Pre-filing consultations with
the prospective petitioner should seek to ensure that the scope of the petition is not
unintentionally overinclusive.
