[比較] regardless, irregardless, irrespective
I will leave irregardless of what he says라고 하는 수가 있지만, 무식한 비표준적인 용법이다.
The arrangements must be made regardless of (or irrespective of) his personal feelings in the matter.
I'll do it regardless(하여간 그것을 하겠다)는 regardless of what you think(네가 어떻게 생각하든 상관없이), regardless of that might happen(무슨 일이 일어나든 상관없다)의 뜻이다.
regret, sorry, deplore, lament
Mr. Lee regrets that he will be unable to accept the kind invitation of Mr. Kim for the sixteenth.
I'm sorry I made you cry.
He deplored the conduct of compatriots in European cities.
He paused to lament the brave men who were not there to hear him speak.
I lament that your conduct has made it necessary for me to speak to your father.

* be all up to ...에게 모든 게 달려 있다
* leave A out of B B에서 A를 배제하다[빼다]

It depends if you look at the glass half empty or half full. I always look at the glass half full.
I think the Republican party is strong in California, but the Democratic party is stronger. It's that simple.
They're both strong?
Yes, they're both strong. But I think that as a whole, you know, this is a very, very liberal state,
and I think that's... there's nothing wrong with that. I think the key thing is that both of the parties work together.
* look at the glass half empty or half full
* there's nothing wrong with that 잘못된 게 없다

What is business really about for you?
Well, I've never thought of myself as a businessman and never was interested in going into business.
What I've always wanted to do is create things and create things that I can be proud of.
* think of A as B A를 B로 간주하다[여기다]
* go into (직업, 사업 등)을 시작하다

The Virgin Group. What's behind the name?
I was fifteen when I started in business.
So Virgin seemed an appropriate name.
And I think that we were also virgin in business.
And everything we start, we start from scratch.

We were virgins in the airline business, we were virgins in the music business, we were virgins in the telecommunications business.
And so, I think we bring a fresh approach to any new business that we start.
And there is somehow Virgin seemed appropriate.

And the byproduct was that, you know this was 25 years ago, that it helped put Virgin on the map.
I think it gave Virgin a much more adventurous spirit as a company than our rival companies.
* put A on the map :A(보통 장소)를 유명하게 만들다, 인지도를 높이다
ex. It was the Olympic Games that really put Seoul on the map.(올림픽때문에 서울이 알려지게 되었다.)

Although, as Vicky points out,
it's not so much the food her children care about.
I think really it's the gimmicks that come with it.
I think as soon as they walk into places like this,
this is big display with the toys,
they appeal to boys and girls.
* not so much A (as B) A라기 보다는 (B다)

Fortunately we found out that the runner-up our particular year was going to get a record contract also.
So it was kind of a... it was bittersweet but it was an opportunity.
And I think I said later on to Ruben, you know, it was an opportunity to continue the competition, I guess, further on down the road.
And unfortunately, people continued to try to dwell on that competition.
ex. I have bittersweet memories of childhood.(내 어린 시절 추억은 좋기도 하고 나쁘기도 하다.)
* down the road 장래에, 장차
That is not a subject I want to dwell on.(그것은 내가 오래 생각하고 싶지 않은 주제이다.)

I want my tombstone to say that I made a difference somewhere.
I mean, I don't have to necessarily do it with an album or to any huge number of people. But, you know, to one person.
I don't want it to be for naught. I don't want all this to be, you know, a waste.
I kind of would like to think that I'm here for a reason.

I think everything that I've done up to this point,
whether it be working with children with disabilities, working at the YMCA, has kind of all led to this position.
And if this is... this job may not be the last one I do.
But if something else that I'm on the way to, then I want to be open to it and be ready.
* on the[one's] way to ...

I think that we all have our own mission and duty and fate in life
so for me somehow I think I am always walking on the edge of life and take risks.
And I was so afraid when I first, basically I had a problem.
But now I enjoy it and I think I am lucky
because you're walking on the edge of life, feel you're alive so it's exciting.
* walk on the edge of life

I'm not foolish enough to think that I'm anywhere near what this guy was.
This guy was in a league of his own.
But Spacey gets close.
