When I telephoned my sister's house from my office, her teen-age son
informed me she wasn't home. I knew from past experience that leaving
a message to return my call would be futile. "Do me a favor, Eric,"
I said. "Move the tea kettle from the stove to the coffee table.
When your mother asks what it's doing there, tell her I told you to do
it and she should call me to find out why."
Later on I had to leave the office, and I returned to find my wastebasket
perched on top of my desk. "Why is this here?" I asked the secretary.
"Your sister returned your call," she replied.

One evening my husband's golfing buddy drove his secretary home after she
had imbibed a little too much at an office reception. Although this was
an innocent gesture, he decided not to mention it to his wife, who tended
to get jealous easily.
Later that night my husband's friend and his wife were driving to a
restaurant. Suddenly he looked down and spotted a high-heel shoe half
hidden under the passenger seat. Not wanting to be conspicuous, he waited
until his wife was looking out her window before he scooped up the shoe
and tossed it out of the car. With a sigh of relief, he pulled into the
restaurant parking lot. That's when he noticed his wife squirming around
in her seat. "Honey," she asked, "have you seen my other shoe?"

안심을 하고 그는 레스토랑 주차장으로 들어섰다. 그때 아내가 자리에서
두리번거리는 것을 보았다. "여보," 그녀가 물었다. "내 신발 한 짝 못봤어요?"
