T : Min-su, please answer question 1.
S : Sorry, what page are we on?
T : What were you thinking about?
S : Sorry.
T : What have you got on your desk?
S : Well, I was thinking about my music homework. Today is the deadline.
T : I don't want to hear your excuses. You should have done it before.
S : The thing is I was sick over the weekend, I didn't have time for it. Sorry, it won't happen again.
T : Okay. Any volunteers?

There are so many effects of pollution on the environment that I really don't know where to begin.
Every day we hear something or other on the news.
I remember hearing about some California beaches last week which were considered dangerous for swimming.
It's not only bad for people but bad for the animals.
Many fish are dying because of polluted water.

Well, as in most work situations, we have a problem here with communication.
That is, most managers do not want to hear people complain, and most employees are afraid to come right out and say what they feel.
They usually won't say what they like or don't like.
They may complain to each other during lunch or after work, but they do not complain directly to the manager.
It is important, however, for a manager to find out if he or she is doing a good job.
One way to do this is to give employees a chance to talk.
Employees need an opportunity to say what is wrong, what they don't like about the work situation, and what they would change to make their work better.

One day, a poor man named Scott, came to visit Taylor.
He said, “Taylor, I need your help. I am a poor man, a man with no money.”
Taylor looked at him kindly and answered, “I'll help you. Tell me what's wrong.”
Scott said, “Yesterday I stopped in front of the door of a restaurant.
The restaurant belonged to a rich man.
I only smelled the food.
However, he wanted me to pay him for the food.
And he called the judge.
The judge said I must go to the court today.
Please Taylor, can you help me?”
In the court the rich man began shouting angrily at Scott.
And the judge asked Scott to pay him right now.
Taylor stepped forward and then said, “This poor man is my elder brother. I will pay you instead.”
After he heard this, the rich man smiled, thinking about his payment.
Then Taylor took a bag of money from his belt, a bag of copper coins.
He bent down next to the rich man and shook the bag.
“Listen. Do you hear this sound?” said he.
“Of course I hear it,” shouted the rich man impatiently.
“Well, then,” answered Taylor, “the problem is solved. The debt is paid.
My brother has smelled your food, and you have heard his money.”
The poor man was saved.
Taylor

Most people are afraid of sharks, but they usually do not know very much about them.
Sharks do not have ears.
However, they hear sounds and movements in the water.
Any sound or movement makes the water vibrate.
Sharks can feel these vibrations, and they help the sharks find food.
Sharks use their large eyes to find food, too.
Scientists want to learn more about sharks for several reasons.
For example, cancer is very common in many animals, including people.
However, it is rare in sharks.
Scientists want to find out why sharks almost never get cancer.
Maybe this information can help people prevent cancer, too.

It's frustrating.
You're excited about the work you've just completed on your computer.
You start to print.
And suddenly it happens.
You run out of ink.
To make matters worse, when you take the empty color cartridge out of the printer and shake it, you can still hear ink inside.
Although only one color has run dry, the whole cartridge is now useless.
Obviously, throwing away unused ink translates into wasted money.
Well, the good news is that we recently introduced a system whereby each color is separated into individual ink tanks.
They're called “Eco Tanks” and they dramatically reduce a printer's running costs.

When we hear about wetlands such as swamps and bogs, we are often reminded of unpleasant experiences:
we get swamped with homework and bogged down in math problems.
This makes it hard to realize the importance of wetlands.
Wetlands are important to many kinds of animals and plants that live there.
Some birds nest in wetlands and others use them for rest stops during flights.
Wetlands are important to people, too.
People visit wetlands to fish, take pictures and just listen to the sounds and enjoy being outdoors.
Wetlands also help us in other ways.
They control flooding by soaking up water like a sponge and then letting it out later on.

Flying for me is so much easier when I get a captain who talks during the flight.
I find it comforting just to hear his voice.
He tells us where we are and identifies places of interest.
He also lets us know when the ride will get a little bumpy and tells us not to worry about it.

The best response is: "He (or she) resembles both parents."
Please don't mention anything about the baby resembling grandparents.
Neither parent wants to hear that.

Did you hear the story about the fisherman who was fishing with the only thing the fish would bite on―frogs?

Dogs, like humans, need fresh water, fresh food and something to think about.
A dog left alone in the backyard will often bark nonstop for hours.
He is trying to get his message across.
Yes, your neighbors can hear it.
And no, they don't like it.
Do you want your neighbors lying awake all night thinking of creative ways to kill you and/or your dog?
If you are not willing to invest the time and energy to train your dog so it can be part of your family, please don't get one.
There is nothing so heartwarming as the love and loyalty of a dog, but it is better for the animal to be destroyed than to be left alone, neglected, bewildered and confused, brimming with love but with no one to accept it.

Two explorers, camped in the heart of the African jungle, were discussing their expedition.
"I came here," said one, "because the urge to travel was in my blood.
City life bored me, and the smell of exhaust fumes on the highways made me sick.
I wanted to see the sun rise over new horizons and hear the flutter of birds that never had been seen by man; I wanted to leave my footprints on sand unmarked before I came.
In short, I wanted to see nature in the raw.
What about you?
"I came," the second man replied, "because my son was taking saxophone lessons."

When you hear that so-and-so has said something horrid about you, you
remember the ninety-nine times when you have refrained from uttering the
most just and well-deserved criticism of him, and forget the hundredth
time when in an unguarded moment you have declared what you believe to
be the truth about him. Is this the reward, you feel, for all your long
forbearance? Yet from his point of view your conduct appears exactly
what his appears to you; he never knows of the times when you have not
spoken, he knows only of the hundredth time when you did speak.

Keep in mind the importance of balancing reading with outside
experiences. Expose your child to as many things, places, and people as
possible. Visiting a farm is for more educational than looking at a book
about a farm, where you child can pat a cow, hear ducks quack, and smell
hay. Seeing these things later in books will be exciting and enjoyable
because they will have real meaning for him.

A child will often ask for approval openly. "Look at my painting! Isn't
it pretty?" But adults are generally less honest about their need for
support. A grown-up who tried his or her best at something isn't likely
to ask. "Didn't I do a good job?" But the adult needs to hear it all the
same. In other words, children and adults alike want to hear positive
remarks. Therefore, don't forget to praise others when they need support.

Breathe Again
Toni Braxton
**
If I never feel you in my arms again
If I never feel your tender kiss again
If I never hear "I love you" now and then
Will I never make love to you once again
Please understand
If love ends
Then I promise you,I promise you
That, that I shall never breathe again
Breathe again
Breathe again
That I shall never breathe again
Breathe again
-
And I can't stop thinkin' about
About the way things used to be
And I can't stop thinkin' about
About the love that you made to me
And I can't get you out of my head
How in the world will I begin
To let you walk right out my life
And blow my heart my away
-
And I can't stop carin' about
About the apple of my eye
And I can't stop doin' without
Without the center of my life
And I can't get you out of my head
And I know I can't pretend
That I won't die if you decide
You won't see me again
-
** repeat
-
And I can't stop thinkin' about
About the way my life would be
No,I can't stop thinkin' about
How could you love me then leave
And I can't get you out of my mind
God knows how hard I've tried
And if you walk right out my life
God knows I'd surely die
-
And I can't stop doin' without
Without the rhythm of my heart
No,I can't stop doin' without
For I will surely fall apart
And I can't get you out of my mind
'Cause I know I can't get by
And I would die if you decide
You won't see me again
-
** repeat
-
That, that I shall never breathe again
Breathe again
Breathe again
That I shall never breathe again
Breathe again

This is an emergency!
She wasn't involved, was she?
No, she just saw it. But it really upset her.
There was a car accident on Highway 40 last night.

The little boy was playing with the gun and fired it into the wall by accident.
His parents are stupid for leaving a gun where he could get it.
I accidentally put sugar on my friend chicken instead of salt.

Bad news, I had a fender bender on the way home.

We have on no small number of occasions seen beautiful individuals give their hard earned savings back to society, and through them we have seen that our society is wholesome and alive.
There are surely many more "loving hands" that we never hear about.
The fact remains, however, that compared to the country's overall economic strength, we still lack a mature culture of sharing.
Laws and the establishment will always be insufficient in looking after the neglected and the suffering.
It is a general social sense of community that must fill the gap.

Indeed, a lot of what researchers have learned about the biology of anxiety comes from scaring rats and then cutting them open.
Just as the Russian physiologist Ivan Pavlov showed 100 years ago that you could condition a dog to salivate at the sound of a bell,
scientists today have taught rats to fear all kinds of things - from buzzers to lights - by giving them electrical shocks when they hear the buzzer or see the light.
The animals quickly learn to fear the stimulus even in the absence of a shock.
Then researchers destroy small portions of the rats' brains to see what effect that has on their reactions (an experiment that would be impossible to conduct in humans).
By painstakingly matching the damaged areas with changes in behavior, scientists have, bit by bit, created a road map of fear as it travels through the rat's brain.

Others talk a lot.
When they come into the theater, they talk and laugh.
They hardly notice when the movie starts because they are still talking.
They can’t hear what is going on in the movie and, unfortunately, neither can the people sitting near them.
People in this group don’t care about the needs of others.

Still, you- you say Minnie, you hear Mouse. Um,

Hey, hey, Yertle the Turtle. A classic.
Actually, I'm reading it to the baby.
The uh, the baby that hasn't been born yet? Wouldn't that mean you're... crazy?
What, you don't think they can hear sounds in there?
You're not serious, I mean, you really... you really talk to it?
Yeah, all the time. I want the baby to know my voice.
Do you uh, do you talk about me?
Yeah, yeah, all the time.
Really?
But um, we just refer to you as Bobo the Sperm Guy.

Someone he truly cares about.
I'm sorry. This is just a lot right now.
Well, you don't have to make a decision now,

but at least talk to Peter.
I mean, there's no harm in that, now, is there?

You won't say anything to Nicole about Keith, will you?
We don't even know whether Maureen Kingsley's going to go forward with the story.
- I have to, Sherry.
- Why?
Because the press is gonna get a hold of this, whether it's today, tomorrow or next week.
- Nicole should be prepared.
- I thought you said Carl would take care of it.
He'll do what he can, but I don't want her to suddenly hear something on the news.
She'd be devastated.

She's so happy right now, David.
We've gotta take it one step at a time.

Hey, Nick. I'm sorry to hear about your friend.
Who told you?

Are you sure he won't hear a click, something?
He won't. And if he asks, you and your wife are alone.
Question him about your son, ask to hear him breathing,

Like what?
So, is that a yes?
No.
아니
I can't. I'm seeing someone.

Well, I don't want to go out with you.
But I think I really might be seeing someone.

At the end of the day,
there are some things you just can't help but talk about.
Some things we just don't want to hear...
and some things we say because we can't be silent any longer.
Some things are more than what you say...
they're what you do.
Some things you say because there's no other choice.
Some things you keep to yourself.

And not too often...
but every now and then...
Some things simply speak for themselves.

You hear about the quint
Yeah, I heard.

Yeah. I got to get in on that.
Yeah, well, that's Addison.

So I'm guessing I don't stand a chance.

is that we don't need any more new laws;

Couldn't the same be said about immigration policy?
