ighting!
Go for it!
Go, go, go 박찬호라고 하죠.
여기서 go는 Go for it에서 나온 것입니다.
아르바이트 → part-time job

Kim-Bhutto Summit :
The summit meeting by President Kim Young-sam and Pakistani
Prime Minister Mohtrama Benazir Bhutto has imparted momentum to
the two countries' ties and is expected to accelerate mutual efforts to
expand cooperation in political, diplomatic and economic sectors. In their
meeting, the leaders of the two Asian countries have found a common
ground for increased international collaboration in the region and the
world community.

Those who orchestrated the meeting should have known that a less scripted
meeting would have been more natural and convincing.

Well, I cannot imagine how you can get bored with a job like that.
Every single day you're dealing with different problems. Every single day you're learning.
Every single day you're meeting the most interesting people.
And you're having an impact on the state if you're doing a good job.
And you're learning about reaching out and bringing people together and all this. So it is the most exciting thing.
* have an impact on ...

You'll find the unknown word comes again, perhaps several times, and by the end of the chapter you'll have guessed its meaning.
That's how we learn the meaning of words in our own language, isn't it?
When I'm telling a story to children, they seldom stop to ask what a word means.
Even when they read, they don't run for the dictionary every time they see an unknown word.
When I read my New York Times these days I often find articles about space programs.
There are sometimes words I don't know ―and some of them are so new that they're not yet in the dictionaries.
But I'm slowly beginning to understand what some of the words mean ― simply by meeting them so often.

My coworker Lewis is an environmentalist.
He is up to date on every environmental cause.
He strictly separates his trash, he doesn't use chemicals on his lawn, and he drives a small car to save oil and reduce pollution.
Lewis is not afraid to lecture his peers when he sees them doing something that might harm our environment.
Today Lewis and I met at the copy machine.
I asked Lewis how his paper recycling drive was going.
“Well, you're not participating,” he said.
“Oh, I'm sorry,” I said.
“I should have joined you.”
Then I saw what he was copying: a handwritten note of about three sentences.
He had made dozens of copies.
“Why didn't you make one copy, and then double it up? You could have saved a lot of paper,” I told him.
Lewis smiled weakly.
“Oh, you're right.
Normally I would have, but I'm late for a meeting.”

Whom, then, do I call educated, since I exclude the arts and sciences and specialties?
First, those who manage well the circumstances which they encounter day by day, and who possess a judgment which is accurate in meeting occasions as they arise and rarely misses the expedient course of action;
next, those who are decent and honorable in their intercourse with all with whom they associate, tolerating easily and good-naturedly what is unpleasant or offensive in others and being themselves as agreeable and reasonable to their associates as it is possible to be;
furthermore, those who hold their pleasure always under control and are not duly overcome by their misfortunes, bearing up under them bravely and in a manner worthy of our common nature;
finally, and most important of all, those who are not spoiled by successes and do not desert their true selves and become arrogant, but hold their ground steadfastly as intelligent men, not rejoicing in the good things which have come to them through chance rather than in those which through their own nature and intelligence are theirs from their birth.
Those who have a character which is in accord, not with one of these things, but with all of them―these, I contend, are wise and complete men, possessed of all the virtues.

Society is commonly too cheap.
We meet at very short intervals, not having had time to acquire any new value for each other.
We meet at meals three times a day, and give each other a new taste of that old musty cheese that we are.
We have had to agree on a certain set of rules, called etiquette and politeness, to make this frequent meeting tolerable and that we need not come to open war.
We meet at the post office, and at the sociable, and about the fireside every night; we live thick and are in each other's way, and stumble over one another, and I think that we thus lose some respect for one another.
Certainly less frequency would suffice for all important and hearty communications.

The purpose of this party is ostensibly to celebrate our fifteenth year
in business. However, our real aim is just to gather some of the more
important people who have supported us over the years so that we can
express our appreciation and enjoy meeting in a warm, friendly
atmosphere. The occasion will also permit our people to meet many of
our benefactors who they seldom have a chance to meet in the course of
their day-to-day activities.

[ Clues to Dinosaurs' Demise Sought ]
The rock and dust kicked up by an asteroid impact 65 million years ago were not enough to kill the dinosaurs, according to researchers―but the debris may have sparked a deadly global chemical reaction in the atmosphere.
New studies show the Chicxulub impact crater on the coast of Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula is smaller than once thought, making dinosaur extinction difficult to explain completely.
Researchers presented those findings Sunday at the American Geophysical Union's fall meeting.
"If you rely on little pieces of debris actually clobbering organisms, then you're in trouble," said Virgil "Buck" Sharpton of the Geophysical Institute at the University of Alaska in Fairbanks.

Now, however, there's new energy in the wind.
Engineers have used advanced technology to make wind turbines that are far more efficient and cost effective than those of yesteryear.
Today's models are capable of meeting 10% of America's energy demand, and within 30 years, newer versions could provide for a quarter of the nation's power needs.
Such figures have re-energized the manufacturers of wind-power equipment and attracted the interest of foreign competitors.
Utilities are conducting wind surveys and starting pilot projects.
And a new breed of wildcatter is scurrying to buy up wind rights - licenses to erect what may be the oil wells of tomorrow.

Hey, High Road,

Hang out, we'll talk later. I have to go to a meeting with Reese Lansing.

You have reason to believe you're under surveillance?
Everyone's under surveillance. If you've got a cell phone--

Hear are the minutes of our meeting.
-
「의사록」은 the minutes of ~의 형태로 나타내며 COD(7th
ed.)는 "a written record of business done, suggestions made,
decisions taken, etc.… at a meeting"이라고 정의하지만
Draw up은
「초안·원안을 만들다」의 의미로 draw up a plan, draw up a
Dialogue
TAKING MINUTE
Mr. West: Here are the minutes of our meeting, Mr. Lee.
Mr. Lee: Minutes of our meeting?
Mr. West: Yes, I have written down the main points of our
discussion. Are you not familiar with them?
Mr. Lee: Well, in Korea too, we take records when the meeting
is about some very important issues.
Mr. West: It is customary in our country to prepare minutes
and sign them.
Mr. Lee: Yes, I think it is a good custom. I'll read the
minutes you have prepared, check them, and if there are no
points to be corrected, I'll sign them.
Mr. West: All right. I can then start drawing up a contract
based on these minutes.
Mr. Lee: I see. Well, as far as I can see, there are no
inaccurate or inappropriate expressions here. I'm ready to
sign them.

Mr. West, I presume?
I'm pleased to meet
you. Nice to meet you. How do you do?
「12시간의 비행」이라고 하는 a 12-hour flight는 a flight 속에

MEETING AT THE AIRPORT (1)
Mr. Lee: Excuse me, Mr. John West, I presume?
Mr. West: Yes. Are you Mr. Lee?
Mr. Lee: Yes. I'm Lee Chul-su of Alpha Electric. Welcome to
Korea. I'm pleased to meet you.
Mr. West: I'm pleased to meet you too, Mr. Lee.
Mr. Lee: It's rather late, so perhaps you would like to go to
your hotel straight away.
Mr. West: Yes, I'm rather tired after a 12-hour flight.
Mr. Lee: I've got my car in the parking lot, so let me take
you to your hotel. Have you got your baggage? Is that all you
have?
Mr. West: Yes, that's right.
Mr. Lee: I'll carry one for you.
Mr. West: That's very kind of you.
어려우면 주저하지 말고 I beg your pardon? Will you
speak more slowly?

A shareholder of an institution who had attended the shareholders' meeting pointed out, "According to the National Pension Service's position, a managerial absence could have occurred", adding, "We need a more responsible attitude as a public pension".
