있다. 하지만 섹스에 관한 것을 노골적으로 화제에 올리는 것은 삼
가는 것이 좋다. 가령 sexy 라는 말은 면전에 대고 말하는 것은 바
람직하지 않다. 그 자리에 없는 제 삼자에 대해서도 [ She looks
very sexy in her jeans.] ( 진 차림의 그 여자는 아주 섹시해요)
정도로 그치는 것이 좋다. 몸차림이 단정하거나 모양새가 좋을 때
우리말로 [스마트 하다 ]고 하는데 영어의 smart 는 [머리가 좋다,
영리하다]라는 뜻이다.

이 액체를 거르는데 사용이 되거나 모직물을 짜는데 이용이 되었지요.
그런데 중세에는 수도승이나 참회를 하는 사람이 피부에 매우 나쁜 거
친 천으로 옷을 만들어 입고 그 불쾌감이나 고통을 견뎌내면서 자신들
의 신앙심이나 참회의 심정을 다짐 했다고 합니다. 또 때에 따라서 자
신들이 범한 죄를 뉘우친다는 사실을 사람들에게 알리기 위해서 이런
옷을 입었다고 하지요. 바로 이런 습관에서 유래가 되어서 피부에 거
