실현되지 못하고 만 '소망'이나 '의도'는 hoped(intended, wanted)+to have+p.p로도 나타낸다. ex) 그는 당신을 만나기를 바랬었어요(끝내 만나지 못했다는 뜻으로): He had hoped to see you.=He hoped to have seen you.
I had given weekly lectures.
I had my own personal reason.
(ANS) Last April I intended to go to Chunchon, but the trip did not materialize after all. I had wanted to visit the Sacred Heart Women's College in that city, where I had given weekly lectures one fall semester. The weekly trip to Chunchon was tiring, but I had taken the job out of courtesy, because I could not decline the honor when Sisters Choo and Kim had taken the trouble to come to see me. Besides I had my own personal reason.

→ 「2주 남짓하게」 two weeks를 하나의 통합된 모양으로 다룬다고 하면 an extra two weeks로 하면 된다. 「여유 있는 주간」 (an extra week) 이 두개로 생각한다면 two extra weeks로 하면 된다.
→ For an extra two weeks, (when) we spent sightseeing로 하면 잘못, stay는 자동사이고, spend는 타동사이므로 목적어가 필요해서 when이 아니라 which가 필요. 또 spend two weeks (for) sightseeing의 for는 불필요하다.
→ 「관광을 하다」 see the sights/ go sightseeing
A busy three days로 말하면 three days가 하나의 덩어리로 다루어지고 있기 때문에 「바쁜 날이 3일 연속이다」에 사용한다.
(ANS) We stayed an extra two weeks in Paris; and we spent it seeing the sights.

Let's go see fall foliage
원래는 go to see라 해야 문법적으로 맞지만 회화에서는

============
와 영어의 'Yes/No.'
---------------------------------------
1. T.B. : Don't you want to go see a move ?
S.H. : Yes,(I don't).
2. E.Y. : Did you go to the party ?
S.L. : No,(I did).
3. J.S. : Can't he go to the party ?
J.Y. : Yes,(he can't).
부정이면 "No."

Have a good
blessed. Bye,
I'll See you later.
I'll go for now. But I can
wait right again.

= It's 9 o'clock already. I have to go.

I will tell you when the bus is coming.
= I'll let you know when the bus is coming.
= I'll tell you when I see the bus.
Do you go to City Hall?
Get in.
This bus will take you City Hall.
Do you see that bus,it'll take you to City Hall.

That is a dead-end street.
What can I see if I go along this street?

Go about 50 meters and you will see it.
you won't miss it.
you can't miss it.
# Go straight ahead for four blocks and turn left.

Some time ago, a few of my friends and I went I to the beach by bus.
Somehow on that day I felt that I did not want to get wet.
I did not know why, but I had no wish to go swimming.
So I sat down on the straw mat that we had brought and spread out on the sandy beach.
I just wanted to relax and see the waves break on the seashore.

A stream in one of our state parks has always been my sitting spot.
I am fascinated when I see the water bubbling over and down the rocks.
The water has shaped the rocks, causing deep indentations in certain places, but other parts are perfectly flat.
The sound of the water running under the bridge always grabs my attention.
On the other side of the bridge is a pond full of fish.
Nearby there is a place where people can go swimming or just sit on the bank and relax in the sand.

Dear Sally,
I'm so excited to hear that you're finally going to visit me here in Seoul.
I've really missed you since I moved away from Australia and I've been waiting for you to come for so long.
I've made an arrangement to take off a couple of weeks from work, so I'll be able to spend a lot of time with you.
Please let me know what you want to do here and I'll prepare everything for it.
You should check out the highlights of Korea online.
If you want to go somewhere outside of Seoul, just let me know and I'll be happy to rent a car.
I hope that I'll be able to do many things with you.
I can't wait to see you.
Bye for now,
Suzanne
Sally
Suzanne

Some researchers believe that many instances in which body and personality go together are due to stereotyping;
that is, we expect a certain type of person to have certain traits, so we see those traits whether they are there or not.
For example, muscular people are believed to be dominant and forceful, so we treat them as leaders.
But sometimes they are actually shy and timid.
Fat people are supposed to be happy and warmhearted, but in reality they can just as easily be depressed or mean.

When my mother passed away, I had to go through her personal belongings.
In her desk was a bundle of notes tied with a faded ribbon.
On top was a message, which read, “In the event of my death, please destroy these.”
I turned over the packet and glanced at the handwriting on the bottom.
To my surprise I recognized my childish writing,
“P.S.: Please don't let anyone else see this. Love, Eddie.”

If you think clowning is just putting up makeup and acting like an idiot, you are wrong.
Anybody can be an idiot, but it takes many hours of practice to make your idiocy funny.
Aha! There's the trick.
I have had thirteen years of being a funny idiot, so it came to me naturally.
But making jokes is really hard.
I have to write down ideas when they pop into my head, or else I don't remember them.
Another trick of being a clown is not to scare kids.
It is tough.
Now whenever I go to see kids, I take off the dark stuff and just wear my bright undershirt,
making kids relaxed and willing to enjoy my show.

We all agree that the aim of education is to fit the child for life; however, there are as many opinions as to how that fitting is to be done as there are men to hold them.
For example, fully half of our teachers cannot see that imagination is the root of all civilization.
Like love, imagination may very fairly be said to 'make the world go round,' but, as it works out of sight, it is given very little credit for what it performs.

I went to public school, and because of my total lack of interest and non-attendance I was asked to leave.
I didn't want to go there in the first place.
I was taken away from all my friends.
My father must have been very pleased to get me into the school, but in the end it was a complete waste of money.
I let him down quite badly, I suppose.
I tried several jobs but I couldn't settle down in them.
They just weren't challenging enough.
Then I realized that what I really wanted to do was live in the country and look after animals, so that's what I now do.
As a family, we're not that close, either emotionally or geographically.
We don't see much of each other these days.
My father and I are totally different, like chalk and cheese.
My interests have always been the country, but his are books, music and above all, opera, which I hate.
If he does come to see me, he's in completely the wrong clothes for the country ― fur coats, nice little leather shoes, not exactly ideal for long walks across the fields.

A Los Angeles man makes a practice of saying the most outrageous
things in elevators to see what reaction he gets from other passengers. The
other day he was telling a friend, "I was on the No. 38 bus going to Santa
Monica when this girl got on completely naked..." He was interrupted by a
little old lady who said, "The 38 bus doesn't go to Santa Monica."

Each day in our small town the siren at the fire station blows at 6 p.m. One evening
it sounded at 7:15 p.m. Concerned, a group of us townspeople gathered to see which way
the fire trucks would go.
When they didn't leave the station, we asked what was going on,"There isn't any fire,"
we were told. "the firemen are having a meeting and not enough of them showed up."

Another is that, as Europeans go, the English are not intellectual. They have
a horror of abstract thought; they feel no need for any philosophy or systematic
"world-view." Nor is this because they are "practical," as they are so fond of
claiming for themselves. One has only to look at their methods of town planning
and water supply, their obstinate clinging to everything that is out of date
and a nuisance, a spelling system that defies analysis, and a system of weights
and measures that is intelligible only to the compilers of arithmetic books,
to see how little they care about mere efficiency.

Having put on a good deal of weight since graduation, I couldn't decide
whether I wanted to go to my class reunion and subject myself to the
scrutiny of former classmates. It was a note from a long-ago best friend
that gave me the courage to go. She signed off: "Dieting to see you again."

A:Oh, come on. Let's go across here.
B:Look out! You nearly got hit by that car! Now do you see why we
should cross at the cornet?
A:I'll be more careful after this.
**
Oh, come on은 Oh, don't be so careful과 같은 뜻이다. Come on은 종종
Go across 대신에
cross만 사용해서 Let's cross here. Let's cross the street here. Look
out=Watch
out=Be careful은 모두 조심해라
Why you should cross는 간접의문문으로서 Why should you
cross?

A:Someone is knocking at the door. Please go and see who it is!
B:There wasn't anybody there.
A:Nobody?
B:No, No one. I think you made a mistake.
A:I surely heard the sounds.
B:It may be the wind passing through.

- Wonderful Tonight sung by Eric Clapton
It's late in the evening
She is wondering what clothes to wear
She puts on her makeup
And brushes her long blonde hair
And then she asks me
"Do I look all right?"
And I say "Yes, you look wonderful tonight"
We go to a party
And everyone turns to see this beautiful lady
is walking around with me
And then she asks me "Do you feel all right?"
And I say "Yes,I feel wonderful tonight"
I feel wonderful
because I see the love light in your eyes
And the wonder of it all is
that you just don't realize how much I love you
It's time to go home now
And I've got an aching head
So I give her the car keys
And she helps me to bed
And then I tell her as I turn out the light
I say "My darling you're wonderful tonight
Oh, my darling you're wonderful tonight"

JUST THE WAY YOU ARE
by Billy Joel
Don't go changing to try and please me
You never let me down before mm-mm-
Don't imagine you're too familliar
And I don't see you anymore
I would not leave uou in times of trouble
We never could have come this far mm
I took the good times
I'll take the bad times
I'll take you just way you are
-
Don't go trying some new fashion
Don't change the color of your hair mm
You always have my unspoken passion
Although I might not seem to care
I don't want to work that hard mm-mm-
I just want someone that i cad talk to
I want you just the way you are
-
I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that I know
Oh, What will it take till you believe in me
The way that I believe in you
I said I love you and that's forever
And this I promise from the heart mm

I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are
I don't want clever conversation
I never want to work that hard mm-mm-
I just want someone that I can talk to
I wnat you just the way you are-

Perhaps Love
P. Domingo & J. Denver
Perhaps love is like a resting place
A shelter from the storm.
It exists to give you comfort.
It is there to keep you warm.
And in those times of trouble
When you are most alone.
The memory of love will bring you home.
-
Perhaps love is like a window
perhaps an open door.
It invites you to come closer.
It wants to show you more.
And even if you lose yourself
And don't know what to do.
The memory of love will see you thru.
-
Oh! love to some is like a cloud
To some as strong as steel.
For some a way of living
For some a way to feel.
And some say love is holding on
And some say letting go.
And some say love is everything
Some say they don't know

Perhaps love is like the ocean
Full of conflict full of pain.
