If you ever get lost in a forest, go to a tree.
It can help you find your way out.
Trees which grow in forests show where north and south are.
For instance, leaves and branches tend to grow more thickly on the south side of a tree.
And the top of a tree bends toward the south.
The color of the bark is brighter on the south side.
If you know which way is south, then you also know that north is in the opposite direction.

Steve Blass was a great pitcher in 1972.
In fact, he was one of the very best.
One year later, he was on his way out of baseball.
Did he get hurt? No.
Only one thing changed: he lost his confidence.
He said, “When it was gone, it was gone for good.”
He started thinking about all the things that could go wrong, and suddenly they did.
Steve Blass no longer believed he could be a major league pitcher,
and before he knew it, he no longer was a major league pitcher.
The ability to do anything must be accompanied by the belief that we can do it.
If you don’t believe in yourself, you won't be able to perform.
Steve Blass
Steve Blass

Dear Sally,
I'm so excited to hear that you're finally going to visit me here in Seoul.
I've really missed you since I moved away from Australia and I've been waiting for you to come for so long.
I've made an arrangement to take off a couple of weeks from work, so I'll be able to spend a lot of time with you.
Please let me know what you want to do here and I'll prepare everything for it.
You should check out the highlights of Korea online.
If you want to go somewhere outside of Seoul, just let me know and I'll be happy to rent a car.
I hope that I'll be able to do many things with you.
I can't wait to see you.
Bye for now,
Suzanne
Sally
Suzanne
It was a Friday afternoon, and the last bell had just rung, which meant it was time to go home for the weekend.
Everyone was excited and hurried out of school shouting goodbye and making weekend plans.
Everyone except Sharon.
Sharon envied the other boys and girls because she wished she could be just like them.
The school was almost empty of students by the time she was ready to leave.
She wasn't in any hurry to go home because she knew what to expect when she got there.
She slowly picked up her stuff and trudged home.
Sharon
I'm constantly amazed by the number of people who can't seem to control their own schedules.

Over the years, I've had many executives come to me and say with pride:
"Boy, last year I worked so hard that I didn't take any vacation."
It's actually nothing to be proud of.
I always feel like responding: "You dummy.

We all agree that the aim of education is to fit the child for life; however, there are as many opinions as to how that fitting is to be done as there are men to hold them.

She had just begun an intense, love-at-first-sight relationship, only to have her lover go off to Europe three weeks later.
For seven tortured weeks she was plagued with doubts.
What if he decided he didn't love her after all?

What if he didn't call her as soon as he returned?
Full of all these what-ifs, my friend's brain was about to short-circuit, until a wise friend of hers put things in perspective.

My friend stood there, awestruck by the brilliant simplicity of this observation.
There was really nothing she could do about the situation, after all.
And worrying about something before it actually happened suddenly came into focus as the waste of time and energy that it is.
In an instant, it seemed, she was free of the problem, able to settle back and take each day at a time until her lover returned, at which point things progressed just as beautifully as she could have hoped and her fears turned out to be groundless after all.

Another is that, as Europeans go, the English are not intellectual. They have
a horror of abstract thought; they feel no need for any philosophy or systematic
"world-view." Nor is this because they are "practical," as they are so fond of
claiming for themselves. One has only to look at their methods of town planning
and water supply, their obstinate clinging to everything that is out of date
and a nuisance, a spelling system that defies analysis, and a system of weights
and measures that is intelligible only to the compilers of arithmetic books,
to see how little they care about mere efficiency.

but by offering consumers bits and pieces which they can assemble
at home.

Once upon a time there was an island called Lombok. On the island lived
a girl named Munira and her big brother Amin, the fisherman. "There
aren't any more fish around here, Munira," said Amin one day. "They've
all gone away, and I must follow them. Stay here, won't you? Promise me?"
"Of course," answered Munira. "I'll put a lamp in the window every night
for you to come home by." Amin didn't come back that night. Nor the next
night, nor the next. For years, Munira lived on the seashells she
gathered on the beach during the day. She waited by the window with her
lamp at night. The other people of Lombok moved away, one by one. Soon,
Munira was alone. One day Munira's cousin, Zeinab, came to visit her
from the big city. "Come to the city and live with me!" said Zeinab. "I
can't," said Munira. "I can't let the lamp go out." The next night there
was a terrible storm. In the morning, Munira walked along the beach
looking for seashells. Suddenly, she saw her lost brother Amin! He was

>>> The Boxer <<< Sung By Simon & Garfunkel
< Artist
Popular
Sound of Silence,
Scarborough Fair, Mrs.Robinson, The Boxer, Bridge Over
Troubled Water
Central Park
New

The River Of Dreams - Billy Joel
In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
From the mountains of faith
To a river so deep
I must be looking for something
Something sacred I lost
But the river is wide
And It's too hard to cross
And even though I know the river is wide
I walk down every evening and I stand on the shore
And try to cross to the opposite side
So I can finally find out what I've been looking for
In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the valley of fear
To a river so deep
And I've been searching for something
Taken out of my soul
Something I would never lose
Something somebody stole
I don't know why I go walking at night
But now I'm tired and I don't want to walk anymore
I hope it doesn't take the rest of my life
Until I find what it is that I've been looking for
In the middle of the night
I go walking in my sleep
Through the jungle of doubt
To a river so deep
I know I'm searching of somthing
Someything so undefined
That it can only be seen
By the eye of the blind
SHE'S GONE
Steel Heart
She's gone - out of my life
I was wrong, I'm to blame
I was so untrue
I can't live without her love
In my life there's just an empty space
All my dreams are lost, I,m wasting away
Oh forgive me girl.
-
Chorus:
Lady won't you save me my heart belongs to you
Lady can you forgive me for all I've done to you
Lady Oh Lady
-
She's gone, out of my life
Oh she's gone
I find it so hard to go on
I really miss taht girl my love
-
Come back into my arms
I'm so alone, I'm begging you
I'm down on my knees
Oh forgive me girl

-
* lay out - 정리하다(arrange),준비하다(prepare).
There were glasses laid out as though there was going to be a
party.
* clearing
* a fighter by his trade
He follows the trade of fiction.
I'm a fixer by trade.(제 직업은 수리공입니다.)
* But the fighter still remains -
* I have squandered ......mumbles -
데 이 노래에 나오는 mumbles(의미없이 중얼거리는 말), 즉 확실하지
* for a pocketful... 의 for는 in exchange for (~과 교환하여) 정도
* Such are......jest - 앞 문장의 mumbles의 내용을 설명하는 말이다.
* Still, a man......rest -그럼에도불구하고(still) 이 권투선수는
이 노래를 만든 Paul Simon은 he 대신 'a man'이라는 표현을
* In the company of strangers -
못한 분위기 (the atmosphere is uncomfortable).
When a man does something wrong and can't take responsibility,
all he can do is running scared.
(being inconspicuous).
* poorer quarter - 빈민가.
* get no offers - (일자리를 수소문 해보았지만) 어느 곳에서도 오라
* "come on"......Avenue - 뉴욕시의 7번가는 Brooklyn 근처에 있는 홍
등가 (red light district)를 말하는데 여기에서의 "come on"은 매춘
" Hi baby, are you looking for something? Can I help you? Come
on,baby! "
* I do declare - 고백하건대(I confess).
End of the road
Boyz II man
We belong together and you know that I'm right
Why do you play with my heart
Why do you play with my mind
You said we'd be forever, said it's never die
How could you love me and leave me
And never say good bye
When I can't sleep at night
Without holding you tight
Girl, each time I try, I just break down and cry
Pain in my head, oh, I'd rather be dead
Spinning around and around
**
Although we've come to the end of the road
