- shilly-shally: 망설이다
→ Shall I? Shall I?에서 Shall he? Shall he?
- dillydally: 꾸물거리다, 빈둥거리다(to hesitate, to waste time by moving slowly)

Nil I?
- fuddy-duddy: 변함이 없는 사람(someone who doesn't like change)
ex) Mr. Lee never goes anywhere new, always wears a tie, eats the same food every day, and is in bed by nine o'clock. He's a real fuddy-duddy.

→ 아무리 ~해도: However ~may…
However talented a man may be,…
→ 건강하다: be in good health 또는 be in good shape등이 있습니다.
Get 대신에 obtain; have도 됩니다.
It goes without saying that ~ 또는 It is needless to say that ~을 이용해 보기로 합시다.
(ANS 1) It goes without saying that however talented and hardworking a man may be, he cannot obtain good results unless he is in good health.
(ANS 2) It is needless to say that for all your talent and effort, you cannot have satisfactory results if you are not in good shape.

→ 여행만큼 즐거운 것은 없다: ① Nothing is more pleasant than traveling; ② Nothing gives us more pleasure than traveling.
→ 옛날부터 일러 왔다: goes an old saying that; as an old saying goes~
Few people are against it.
→ 미지의 곳을 방문하다: travel to strange places
→ 그곳 사람들의 인정이나 풍습에 젖어 보다: get friendly with the people there and get friendly with their was of life; get friendly and familiar with the people there and their customs and manners.
(ANS 1) "Nothing is more pleasant than traveling." goes an old saying, and even today a great number of people still believe it to be true. To take a journey to strange places and become friendly with the people and familiar with their way of life may well bring us one of the greatest pleasures we can ever experience in our lives.
(ANS 2) "Nothing gives us more pleasure than traveling." as an old saying goes. Even these days few people are against it. Indeed, it is one of the highest joys we can get out of life to travel to strange places and get friendly and familiar with the people there and their customs and manners.

→ 『물론 중요하지만~』- Of course(or No doubt of Indeed or It is true) it is important to~, 「과연 ~이지만, 그러나…」 Of course; No doubt; Indeed; It is true; Undoubtedly; To be sure; I admit
⇒ It is true he is young, but he is prudent for his age.
Indeed he is a psychologist, but he doesn't seem to know how to control children.
I admit he is a good player, but he cannot compare (or be compared) with his brother.
→ 「건강에 주의한다는 것」은 to take care of one's health 와 같이 부정사를 주어로 할 수도 있지만, it를 내세워 문장의 균형을 잡는 것이 좋다.
→ 「병에 걸리는 것을 지나치게 두려워하다」/be too much afraid of getting ill. 좋지 않다/ not wise; unwise; bad policy등, 「병에 걸리다」/ become ill; fall ill, get ill; be taken ill 등.
(ANS) Of course it is important (or it is of course important) to take care of one's health, but it is not wise to be too much afraid of getting ill.

How are you GETTING ALONG?
☞ 'GET ALONG'
1) (of person) to continue, often in spite of difficultie, manage.
Ex) I'm sure we can GET ALONG well without him.
2) to advance
Ex) How's the work GETTING ALONG?
3) + with - to form or have a friendly relationship
Ex) Do you GET ALONG WITH him?

He's getting nowhere with that girl.
* get nowhere : to fall despite much action or effect.

How are you getting along with your girl friend?
* get along with : to form or have a friendly relationship.

하다 (succeed in
doing something but with difficulty).
- I managed to get there in time.

* let ~ get away with it : "내버려두다"
A : The child is misbehaving. You shouldn't let him get away with that.
B : But I don't want to hurt his feelings.

You will pay for it!
* You won't get away with this!
'너 나중에 두고 보자'란 뜻이다. won't는 will not의 준말인데
그리고 I'll get even.
된다. get even은 '똑같이 된다.'
Let's wait and see. 또는
It remains to be seen

Look good on one's something.
How do you like this jean?
이런 뜻의 영어는 get along with와 mix with가 있다.

* stand by.
1. I stand by my statement
2. We stand by our friend.
→ take sides with
3. Stand by, action! / Get ready, action!
4. I stand by big tree.

I want to return your favor
get even또는 make(someone) pay for something이라고 표현한다.
Someday I'll get even with you.

How can I get in touch with you?

I lived with that diagnosis all day.

Having lived through it, I can now say this to you with a bit more certainty than when death was a useful but purely intellectual concept:
No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there.
And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it.
And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life.

Her little feet she had drawn close up to her,
but she grew colder and colder, and to go home
she did not venture, for she had not sold any
matches and could not bring a farthing of money:
from her father she would certainly get blows,
and at home it was cold too, for above her
she had only the roof, through which the wind
whistled, even though the largest cracks
were stopped up with straw and rags.

"We're starting with a system that's like the 'Wild, Wild West,'
said Abel. "Everybody wants it to be the opportunity to get
rich quick, but the flip side is everyone wants total accountability,
instantaneously, on a system that was never designed to handle
the kind of traffic or address the kinds of issues that people
are now addressing on the Web and in the domain name system."

I want to get along with you.

T : Class, we have a new student. Her name is Mi-ra from Seoul. Why don't you introduce yourself to your classmates?
S1 : Hi. I'm Mi-ra. I am from Seoul. I like basketball. I want to get along with everyone here.
T : Good. You can go now and sit next to Min-su.
S2 : Hi. I am Min-su. You look worried. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask me.
S1 : Thanks.
S3 : Hi, Mi-ra. You said you like basketball. Why don't you join our basketball club?
S1 : Sounds like a good idea. Thanks for asking.

Benjamin Franklin once worked as a printer.
From his work, he realized how difficult it was to make books.
However, he really enjoyed reading and wanted to get as many books as he could.
Franklin came up with a good idea - to set up a club where people could share their books.
At last, fifty members joined the club in 1732.
The club members were allowed to take the books home with them.
This club, called Franklin's Club, is said to be America's first circulating library.

The jobs that most companies are doing with information today would have been impossible several years ago.
At that time, getting rich information was very expensive,
and the tools for analyzing it weren't even available until the early 1990s.
But now the tools of the digital age give us a way to easily get, share, and act on information in new ways.

Yesterday evening my son came in to ask if I felt like playing ball with him.
I was trying to get important work done, and I almost said no.
Then it occurred to me that my boy would never be a seven-year-old again.
So we went out onto the front lawn.
With the sun setting, we enjoyed being together.
There was a sense of beauty about the whole experience.

If you want to get to the top of the highest mountain in the world, you have to climb as high as a plane flies.
There aren't any roads or tracks that lead to the top of the mountain.
The mountain is Mount Everest in the Himalaya Range.
The only way to get to the top of Mount Everest is to walk, climb, and crawl there yourself.
You have to drive spikes into the rock and cut your own stairs in the ice.
One false step, and you could fall nearly two and a half miles straight down.
When you get to the top of Mount Everest, you're up so high that the air doesn't have enough oxygen for you to breathe.
So you have to take tanks of oxygen with you.

After he stopped boxing, Muhammad Ali became a good magician and frequently entertained guests with his tricks.
He often explained the secret behind each trick.
“Never do a trick twice,” he once said.
“And never show the audience how you do it.”
“I don't get it, champ,” one of his friends said.
“If that's the case, then why did you show them?”
“To prove to them how easy they can be tricked!” Ali replied.

Once I began writing my essay at 2:30 a.m.
At that time, I was proud of my material I had gathered.
However, after handing in my essay, I began to worry about what I had actually written.
Several days later, my teacher handed back the corrected essays.
Mine came back with red ink all over it.
Not only had I made a lot of spelling mistakes, but I had written strange sentences like, “Jazz, a direct result of hot dogs and hamburgers....”
Needless to say, I did not get a very good grade on that essay.

When he was nine years old, he was brought to the door by a policeman who kept one hand on his arm as if to stop him from running away.
He had been caught writing with a crayon on a wall of the subway station and his parents were expected to discipline him.
The entire rest of the day he stayed in his room waiting for his father to come home from the shirt factory.
A slap in the face, he thought, perhaps that's all he'll get.
And maybe no pocket money for the coming week.

Millions of law-abiding Americans are physically addicted to caffeine, and most of them don't even know it.
People who drink coffee several times a day for years are likely to be addicted by caffeine.
When deprived of their caffeine, addicts experience often severe symptoms such as a throbbing headache and depression.
As with other addictive drugs, heavy users require higher doses to get the expected effect.

In November, 1989, the television news announced that East Germans could now travel to the West.
People could get visas to cross the border between East and West.
Immediately people gathered at the Berlin Wall.
People started hacking at the wall with hammers and chisels.
The next day the police started demolishing the wall with bulldozers.
It was a momentous day for Germany and for the whole of Europe.
It was the end of a divided Germany.
It was also the beginning of the end of hostile relationships between East and West Europe.
