company, on Wednesday said it had acquired Tegic Communications, a
leading provider of software that allows people to send electronic
messages in 14 languages via wireless phones and other devices.

Tegic Communications was founded in 1995 and has been backed by Craig
McCaw's Eagle River Inc. investment fund, among other funders.

It will continue to operate as a separate business unit in Seattle.
