It is well known that doing a service for other persons benefits the giver as much as the receiver.

If you want to get to the top of the highest mountain in the world, you have to climb as high as a plane flies.
There aren't any roads or tracks that lead to the top of the mountain.
The mountain is Mount Everest in the Himalaya Range.
The only way to get to the top of Mount Everest is to walk, climb, and crawl there yourself.
You have to drive spikes into the rock and cut your own stairs in the ice.
One false step, and you could fall nearly two and a half miles straight down.
When you get to the top of Mount Everest, you're up so high that the air doesn't have enough oxygen for you to breathe.
So you have to take tanks of oxygen with you.

A mother wanted to teach her daughter a lesson on money.
So she gave her little daughter a quarter and a dollar for the church,
"Put whichever one you want in the collection basket and keep the other for yourself," she told the girl.
When they were coming out of church, the mother asked her daughter which amount she had given.
"Well," said the little girl, "I was going to give the dollar, but just before the collection,
the priest said that we should all be cheerful givers.
I knew I'd be a lot more cheerful if I gave the quarter, so I did.

On most subway trains, the doors open automatically at each station.
But when you are on the M1tro, the subway in Paris, things are different.
I watched a man on the Mtro try to get off the train and fail.
When the train came to his station, he got up and stood patiently in front of the door, waiting for it to open.
It never opened.
The train simply started up again and went on to the next station.
In the Mtro, you have to open the doors yourself by pushing a button, depressing a lever or sliding them.

Author Joseph Conrad wrote, “In work is the chance to find yourself.”
If you think of work as punishment you'll never achieve your goal.
Working hard does have its weaknesses, its difficult and painful moments.
There'll be times when you'll want to give up the whole thing.
But for every weakness, there's benefit.
Hard work is the way to the end of the rainbow.

Chef Walter Potenza owns three thriving Italian restaurants on Rhode Island.
He believes that his success is the product of lifetime education.
“When I opened my first restaurant, all of a sudden, my schooling and my knowledge came into play.
It made me an academic, a person who explored the food business,” Walter says.
“And the learning never stops,” he adds.
“Every time you read a book, you get ideas.
Then you introduce your ideas into your workplace.
You make more work for yourself, but you make that work better.
Chefs are made, not born.”

Steve Blass was a great pitcher in 1972.
In fact, he was one of the very best.
One year later, he was on his way out of baseball.
Did he get hurt? No.
Only one thing changed: he lost his confidence.
He said, “When it was gone, it was gone for good.”
He started thinking about all the things that could go wrong, and suddenly they did.
Steve Blass no longer believed he could be a major league pitcher,
and before he knew it, he no longer was a major league pitcher.
The ability to do anything must be accompanied by the belief that we can do it.
If you don’t believe in yourself, you won't be able to perform.
Steve Blass
Steve Blass

Most writers and poets suffer under the genius syndrome.
It is assumed that writing is a divine gift and that if you have that gift,
you should lock yourself away for three years and then come out with a masterpiece.
If you have to study writing, then you're not a genius and you shouldn't be a writer.
In fact, the intellectual privately agree with it.
However, Nicholas Delbanco doesn't believe the idea.
He says that if you want to improve your tennis skills, tennis lessons are a good idea.
He doesn't emphasize work that's entirely subjective and urges his students to imitate rather than create.

For most people , choosing a career isn't easy,
yet it is one of the most important decisions you will make in your life.
Find the right career, and you will be happy and successful.
Find the wrong career, and you may be unhappy and unsuccessful.
It pays, therefore, to explore our choice of occupation from every angle, collect as much information as you can,
actually try different kinds of work before making up your mind.
Above all, evaluate yourself.
Be sure you know your own interests and talents.

The more technical the automation becomes, and the more quickly the world changes, the more we need information from just the right person arriving in our lives at just the right time.
You don't need a formal education to do that; just a niche you've created for yourself through self-education.

Cultural differences sometimes cause problems in carrying out business transactions.
For this reason, if you want to do business in Arab countries, you'd better familiarize yourself with the Moslem and national holidays.
Especially, avoid a visit during Ramadan, the Moslem month of fasting.
And most Arab countries have a six-day workweek from Saturday through Thursday.
When matched with the Monday to Friday practice in most Western countries, it leaves only three and a half workdays shared.
Remember this in planning your appointments.

But, for many people, the decision to remain unwed comes down to one big advantage: freedom.
"You can do what you want, go as you please," said Debi Orteg, 40, of Simi Valley.

Imagine what it would be like to wake up and find yourself in a metal box.

This is what happened to a man in South Africa who had been in a car accident.

He remained there, unconscious, for two days.

I called the operator and asked her to place a call for me. She replied stiffly,
"You can save time and money by dialing the number yourself."
"I know," I said, "but I've got the time and I'd like to spend some of it before it
stacks up." She mumbled something and gave me a disconnect.

Bing Crosby writes of an experience he had while traveling by train through the
Southwest many years ago.
Our train was stopped, and we were told there'd be a wait, so I walked up and down
the track behind the train. The rear brakeman, a hard-bitten little Texan, was walking
up and down, too, swinging his lantern. He came up to me and said,"They tell me that
rascal Bim Crosland's aboard. They say he's quite a singer, but as far as
I'm concerned, Larry Ross could run him in a gopher hole."
I agreed with him and thought no more of it. In the morning, there came a knock
on our door. It was the brakeman. He eyed me with a twinkle and said, "You
hoaxed me, didn't you? You're Bim Crosland yourself! Just for that, you've got to
sign my book."
So I signed it:"Bim Crosland."

When some misfortune threatens, consider seriously and deliberately what
is the very worst that could possibly happen. Having looked this possible
misfortune in the face, give yourself reasons for thinking that after all
it would be no such very terrible disaster. Such reasons always exist,
since at the worst nothing that happens to oneself has any cosmic
importance. When you have looked for some time steadily at the worst
possibility and have said to yourself with real conviction, "Well, after
all, that would not matter so very much," you will find that your worry
diminishes to a quite extraordinary extent.

Jackson went to a psychiatrist. "Doc," he said, "I've got trouble. Every
time I get into bed I think there's somebody under it. I get under the
bed, I think there's somebody on top of it. Top, under, top, under.
I'm going crazy!"
"Just put yourself in my hands for two years," said the shrink. "Come to
me three times a week, and I'll cure you."
"How much do you charge?"
"A hundred dollars per visit."
"I'll think about it."
Jackson never went back. Six months later he met the doctor on the street.
"Why didn't you ever come to see me again?" asked the psychiatrist.
"For a hundred bucks a visit? A bartender cured me for ten dollars."
"Is that so! How?"
"He told me to cut the legs off the bed."

So great is our passion for doing things for ourselves, that we are
becoming increasingly less dependent on specialized labor.
No one can plead ignorance of a subject any longer, for there are
countless do-it-yourself publications.
Armed with the right tools and materials, newly-weds gaily embark
on the task of decorating their own homes.
Men of all ages spend hours of their leisure time installing their own
fireplaces, laying out their own gardens; building garages and making
furniture.
Some really keen enthusiasts go so far as to build their own record
players and radio transmitters. Shops cater to the do-it-yourself
craze not only by running special advisory services for novices,
but by offering consumers bits and pieces which they can assemble
at home.
Such things provide an excellent outlet to pent-up creative energy, but
unfortunately not all of us are born handymen.

If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that
you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as
you do. If someone maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland
is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so
little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own
contrary conviction. So whenever you find yourself getting angry about
a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find,
on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants.

A fiery diplomat was the survivor of a dozen duels of honor.
For one of them he had to journey to a country town some distance from Paris.
He and his adversary arrived at the railroad station simultaneously.
The adversary bought a round-trip ticket; the diplomat asked only for
a one-way tab.
"You haven't very much confidence in yourself," said the adversary
with a sneer.
"On the contrary," replied the diplomat. "I always use my opponent's
return ticket after a duel."

The publishers will tell you that the average life of a novel is ninety days.
It is hard to reconcile yourself to the fact that a book into which you have
put, besides your whole self, several months of anxious toil, should be read
in three or four hours and after so short a period forgotten.
Though it will do him no good, there is no author so small-minded as not to
have a secret hope that some part at least of his work will survive him for
a generation or two.
The belief in posthumous fame is a harmless vanity which often reconciles
the artists to the disappointments and failures of his life.

As with all illness prevention is better than cure. A very common danger
signal is the inability to relax. "When you're taking work home, when
you can't enjoy an evening with friends, when you haven't time for
outdoor exercise―that is the time to stop and ask yourself whether
your present life really suits you," says one family doctor.
"Then it's time to join a relaxation class, or take up dancing,
painting or gardening."

LIFE INSURANCE FOR CHILDREN?
Of course you have life insurance for yourself, maybe even for your wife.
But life insurance for your children? What's the point?
Simply this: your kids won't be kids forever, and when they enter young adulthood they're going to need all the financial muscle they can muster.
A life insurance policy begun in childhood can help secure student loans, personal loans, mortgages- even business loans.
As well as providing basic financial security in the event of death.
And the premiums never go up.
At the Juvenile Life, we've been insuring young lives and assuring future since 1847.

Don't wish your life away making impossible plans for your future. Grand
plans are fun, but not really helpful if you can't achieve them. And
don't let other people pressure you into trying to achieve things that
you know are not possible. You'll only worry about achieving them, and
that will trigger a whole host of new anxieties. Set yourself realistic
goals, and aim to achieve them one step at a time. Remember that life is
precious and you need to live in the present as well as hold on to your
dreams for the future.

Common sense aside, the most important asset in business is a sense of
humor, an ability to laugh at yourself or the situation. Laughter is
the most powerful and constructive force for calming tension. If you can
point out what is humorous or absurd about a situation and ease the
tension by getting the other party to share your feeling, you will have
the upper hand. There are very few absolutes in business. This is one of
them, and I've never seen it fail.

"I made a serious commitment to myself to give it my best every time I
competed," says Paula Fraser, 1989 World Marathon winner. "For that same
reason, I wear Bronks. They are seriously committed to performance as I
am ; whether I am training or racing, I do it comfortably in a pair of
Bronks." Working with researchers from Chicargo University, Bronks has
designed its products to meet the special biochemical needs of men and
women. A special cushioning system provides exceptional shock absorption.
Put on a pair and check out the feel of real performance yourself.

The greatest Love of All
By Whitney Houston
* I believe the children are our future,
Teach them well and let them lead the way.
Show them all the beauty they possess inside.
Give them a seen of pride to make it easier.
Let the children's laughter remind us how we used to be.
Everybody's searching for a hero,
People need someone to look up to.
I never found anyone who full filled my needs.
A lonely place to be,
And so I learned todepend on me.
** I decided long ago never to walk in anyons's shadow.
If I fall, if I succeed, at least I live as believe.
No matter what they take from me,
They can't take away my dignity
Because the greatest love ofall is happening to me.
I've found the greatest love of all inside of me.
The greatest love of all is easy to achieve
Learning to love yourself is the greatest love of all.

Andif by chance that special place that you've been dreaming of
leads you to a lonely place
Find your strength in love

Perhaps Love
P. Domingo & J. Denver
Perhaps love is like a resting place
A shelter from the storm.
It exists to give you comfort.
It is there to keep you warm.
And in those times of trouble
When you are most alone.
The memory of love will bring you home.
-
Perhaps love is like a window
perhaps an open door.
It invites you to come closer.
It wants to show you more.
And even if you lose yourself
And don't know what to do.
The memory of love will see you thru.
-
Oh! love to some is like a cloud
To some as strong as steel.
For some a way of living
For some a way to feel.
And some say love is holding on
And some say letting go.
And some say love is everything
Some say they don't know
(*)
Perhaps love is like the ocean
Full of conflict full of pain.
Like a fire when it's cold outside
Thunder when it rains.
If I should live forever
And all my dreams come true.
My memories of love will be of you.
-
And some say love is holding on
And some say letting go.
And some say love is everything
Some say they don't know
(Repeat *)

the greater the chance of damaging some vital life-support system.
In these conditions a diver could easily become disorientated and that could be fatal.
The flooded caverns can play tricks on you in other ways.
What seems like air, isn't.
It's just another kind of water.
This is a halocline - a meeting of fresh and salt water.
Fresh water from the jungle flows over the heavier salt water from the sea.
The saltwater layer is extremely low in oxygen making it a particularly difficult place for animals to live.
Yet some have managed it,
like the remiped, one of the most ancient of all living crustaceans.

If you think you can change another person, you are really fooling yourself.
The only person you can change is the person in your mirror!
Once you change, others will change.
For every action there is a reaction.
As you change and grow, others will change and grow.

What type of person are you?
Have you ever let your fear of failure become so big that you've stopped yourself from joining in on life?
Instead of trying out for the basketball team, do you sit on the sidelines and watch?
Do you drop out of the school play auditions because you're afraid you won't get the lead role?
If you have that attitude, you'll never allow yourself to succeed.

The time has finally come.
You've made it.
You've crossed the finish line, only to find yourself at the start of another game, with a new set of hurdles to jump and records to break.
You have conquered every challenge, every obstacle, and yet you have just begun.
But don't worry, Jane.
Jane.
You've always been a winner, and that will never change.
Never, even for a moment, stop believing in yourself.
If you believe in yourself, you can believe in your dreams.
Congratulations on achieving your master's degree!
I'm sure the cap and gown will add to the highlight of your achievements!

Mrs. Bing, I have to tell you, I've read everything you've ever written. No, I mean it! I mean, when I read Euphoria at Midnight, all I wanted to do was become a writer.
Oh, please, honey, listen, if I can do it, anybody can. You just start with half a dozen European cities, throw in thirty euphemisms for male genitalia, and bam! You have got yourself a book.
Myyy mother, ladies and gentlemen.

Look, there's no way for me to tell you this.
I just don't think things are gonna work out.
That's fine.
It is?
Mmm-hmm.
그래?
Because I know that this isn't the end.
Oh no, you see, actually it is.
No, it isn't, because you won't let that happen.
Don't you know it yet?
You love me, Chandler Bing.
Oh, no I don't.
Well then ask yourself this.
Why do you think we keep ending up together?
New Year's? Who invited who? Valentine's? Who asked who into whose bed?
I did, but...
You seek me out.

You have to put them together yourself, but they cost a little less.
Look, Rachel, this is poker. I play to win, alright? In order for me to win, other people have to lose.
