But as early as 1803, an ingenious Maryland farmer, Thomas Moore, had
been on the right track. He owned a farm about twenty miles outside the
city of Washington, for which the village of Georgetown was the market
center. When he used an icebox of his own design to transport his butter
to market, he found that customers would pass up the rapidly melting
stuff in the tubs of his competitors to pay a premium price for his
butter, still fresh and hard in neat, one-pound bricks. One advantage of
his icebox, Moore explained, was that farmers would no longer have to
travel to market at night in order to keep their produce cool.

South Korea's central Bank of Korea will keep the overnight call rate
at the present level in December and inject liquidity flexibly, Governor
Chon Chol-hwan said Thursday.
"The economy has recently shown a rapid growth trend, and this trend is
expected to continue," he told reporters after chairing a regular
Monetary Board meeting.
Consumer prices, which showed a rising movement for three months, edged
down in November thanks to price stability involving farm, livestock and
fishery products, and that is why the central bank decided against
changing its monetary policy, Chon said.

전 총재는 "최근 실물경제가 빠른 성장세를 보이고 있는데다 이같은 추세가
지속될 것으로 예상되긴 하지만 지난 3개월동안 상승세를 보였던 소비자물가가
11월들어 농축수산물가격의 안정에 힘입어 소폭 하락한 것이 통화정책을
바꾸지 않게된 가장 큰 요인"이라고 설명했다.
제123조 ①국가는 농업 및 어업을 보호·육성하기 위하여 농·어촌종합개발과 그 지원등 필요한 계획을 수립·시행하여야 한다.
Article 123
(1) The state shall establish and implement a plan to comprehensively develop and support the farm and fishing communities in order to protect and foster agriculture and fisheries.
②국가는 지역간의 균형있는 발전을 위하여 지역경제를 육성할 의무를 진다.
(2) The state shall have the duty to foster regional economies to ensure the balanced development of all regions.
③국가는 중소기업을 보호·육성하여야 한다.
(3) The state shall protect and foster small and medium enterprises.
④국가는 농수산물의 수급균형과 유통구조의 개선에 노력하여 가격안정을 도모함으로써 농·어민의 이익을 보호한다.
(4) In order to protect the interests of farmers and fishermen, the state shall endeavor to stabilize the price of agricultural and fishery products by maintaining an equilibrium between demand and supply of such products and improving their marketing and distribution systems.
⑤국가는 농·어민과 중소기업의 자조조직을 육성하여야 하며, 그 자율적 활동과 발전을 보장한다.
(5) The state shall foster organizations founded on the spirit of self-help among farmers, fishermen and businessmen engaged in small and medium industry and shall guarantee their independent activities and development.
