이렇게 심하게 매질을 당하는 것을 bull doze라고
합니다.
여기서 발전하여 "위협하다"로 발전.
험하고 접근하기 힘든 지형을 깎아내고 고르는 억샌 황소를 잠재우
는 일에 비유할 수 있는 기계의 이름.

◆ frighten, scare, startle, terrify
모두 "놀라게 하다"라는 의미를 지니는 동사들입니다.
1) frighten : 가장 일반적이고 범위가 가장 폭넓은 말입니다. 종종 육체를 해치는 데에
대한 두려움을 표현할 때 쓰이기도 하지만 상상력에서 비롯되는 두려움을 나타낼 때
쓰이기도 합니다.
=. The prospect of being deserted by her husband deeply frightened her.
(남편에게 버림받을 것 같다는 생각에 그녀는 두려웠다.)
=. They frightened him into submission[confessing].

2) scare : frighten과 비슷한 의미로 갑자기 힘을 잃게 하는 공포, 불안한 상황을 나타냅니다.
scare는 frighten보다 강한 의미를 가지고 문자 그대로로나 비유적으로 신체적인 반사작용을 뜻합니다.

3) startle : 갑작스러운 놀라움을 말하고 보통 부지불식간에 하는 행동들(펄쩍 뜀,
