상압증류탑, 상압증류 시설 (CDU / Crude Distillation Unit)
A-Tower, A-Column, Topper, Topping Column 이라고도 불리우며, 원유를 비등점의
차이에 따라 LPG, Naphtha, Kerosene, Diesel, B-C 유분으로 분리하는 시설.
이 시설은 원유를 구성하고 있는 성분들이 일정한 압력과 온도하에서 기체로
증발되려는 성질이 각각 다른점을 이용하며, 이에 따라 탑 내부의 온도와 압력을
높이에 따라 점차 변화시켜(상부로 갈수록 온도와의 압력이 낮아짐) 혼합되어 있는
유분을 각각의 유분으로 분리하는 시설임.CDU는 대기압과 비슷한 상압에서
운전되기 때문에 상압증류탑이라 불리우며, 내부는 약 40-50여개의 단(Stage)으로
구성되어 있고, 원유는 열교환기 및 Heater(가열로)를 통해 약 350℃로 가열되어
투입 됨. 각각의 단은 약 1m 내외의 높이마다 설치된 칸막이(Tray)로 구분되어
있고, 각각의 Tray는 기포를 발생시키기 쉬운 구조의 캡형태(Bubble Cap Tray),
작은 구멍이 뚫려 있는 형태 또는 밸브가 설치된 형태의(Valve Tray) 철판으로
되어 있어 윗단에서 응축되어 내려오는 액상 성분과 아랫단에서 기화하여
올라오는 기상 성분의 접촉을 원활히하여 기·액 평형이 쉽게 이루어지도록
고안되어 있음.
