In the early nineteenth century, state governments also engaged in a
surprisingly large amount of direct regulatory activity, including
extensive licensing and inspection programs. Licensing targets reflected
both similarities in and differences between the economy of the
nineteenth century and that of today : in the nineteenth century, state
regulation through licensing fell especially on peddlers, innkeepers,
and retail merchants of various kinds. The perishable commodities of
trade generally came under state inspection, and such important frontier
staples as lumber and gunpowder were also subject to state control.
Finally, state governments experimented with direct labor and business
regulation designed to help the individual laborer or consumer,
including setting maximum limits on hours of work and restrictions on
price-fixing by businesses.

쿠팡은 "쿠팡의 직간접 고용 인력은 2018년 2만5000명에서 지난해에는 3만명으로 1년 새 5천명 증가했다"며 "5년간 누적 지급 인건비가 4조680억원에 달한다"고 소개했다.
Coupang said, "Coupang's direct and indirect employment increased by 5,000 in a year from 25,000 in 2018 to 30,000 last year," adding, "Cumulative labor costs for 5 years amount to 4.68 trillion won."
