This may keep him from feeling lonely.
Then, provide emotional support.

Stop doing it now.

Have you ever heard of a cinchona tree?
In fact, it is of great use in many respects.

Quinine is widely used to help cure a lot of diseases.

When winter arrives, some people get sad.
Doctors have recently started to study the cause of a medical disorder that they have appropriately named SAD, or seasonal affective disorder.
People who suffer from SAD become very depressed during the winter months.
Their depression appears to be a result of a decrease in the amount of sunlight they are exposed to.
Doctors theorized that decreased sunlight affects the production of melatonin,
a hormone manufactured in the brain, and serotonin, a chemical that helps transmit nerve impulses.
Depression may result from the imbalance of two substances in the body.
의사들은 최근에 SAD(계절적인 영향을 받는 질환)의 원인을 연구하기 시작했다.

On most subway trains, the doors open automatically at each station.
But when you are on the M1tro, the subway in Paris, things are different.
I watched a man on the Mtro try to get off the train and fail.
When the train came to his station, he got up and stood patiently in front of the door, waiting for it to open.
It never opened.
The train simply started up again and went on to the next station.
In the Mtro, you have to open the doors yourself by pushing a button, depressing a lever or sliding them.

Despite the positive effects suggested by these studies, though,
according to a study on calorie restriction involving twenty healthy young men who cut their food intake in half for six months,
the subjects became depressed and irritable.
And they had very low energy and lost interest in doing things.
When they were allowed to eat again, they ate up greedily.

Some researchers believe that many instances in which body and personality go together are due to stereotyping;
that is, we expect a certain type of person to have certain traits, so we see those traits whether they are there or not.
For example, muscular people are believed to be dominant and forceful, so we treat them as leaders.
But sometimes they are actually shy and timid.
Fat people are supposed to be happy and warmhearted, but in reality they can just as easily be depressed or mean.

Under pressure, many of us become depressed, lose our motive and excitement about life.

Life is full of ups and downs.

So, once again, cheer up.

Feeling depressed and guilty, Garcia turned to drugs.

It used to be said that when a man felt depressed, he took to drink, but
a woman went out and bought a new hat. However good her clothes are, a
woman gets tired of always looking the same. It's boring. A woman likes
to experiment with styles and colors and this helps to create fashion,
because what looks good on one woman frequently looks good on another.
Then it seems that everyone is wearing more or less the same clothes,
and so it becomes boring again, and women start to look for something
different.

Recently, I was in a restaurant when a woman and a young boy sat down
at the neighboring table. I happened to hear their conversation, The
woman asked: "So, how have you been?". And the boy, no more than seven
or eight years old, replied, "Frankly, I've been a little depressed
lately." This remained in my mind because it strengthened my belief that
children were changing. As I remember, my friend and I didn't realize we
were "depressed" until high school. The proof of a change in children has
been increasing steadily. Children don't seem childlike anymore. Children
speak, dress, and behave more like adults than in the past. Little girls
wearing earrings and designer dresses are not uncommon. Boys wearing
hairs styles like movie stars aren't rare anymore. These changes are not
without reason. In the past, children learned the secrets of adulthood
very slowly. Today, however, TV, computers, and the media are pushing
children into adult roles. Indeed, the amount of information available to
children is quickening the beginning of adulthood.

mental state of depressed mood characterized by feelings of sadness, despair, and
discouragement. Depression ranges from normal feelings of 'the blues' through

withdrawal from interpersonal contact, and somatic symptoms such as eating and sleep

출근한 옆자리 미국인 동료가 Why the long face?
Why are you in a gloomy mood?
Why so blue?
Why the knitted brow?(찡그린 이마) 또는 Why in a funk?
또는 Why so depressed?
-
A:Why the long face,John?
B:I got a ticket on my way to work.
A:What for?
B:Speeding.
A:Don't take it too hard. Traffic tickets are a fact of life,
you know.
-
A:과속.

(Recurrent depressive disorder)
-
(Recurrent depressive disorder, current episode mild)

(Recurrent depressive disorder, current episode
severe without psychotic symptoms)

symptoms)
(Recurrent depressive disorder, current episode
severe with psychotic symptoms)

정말 신경질 나게 하는군-It's really getting to me- 정말 신경질 나게 하는군
이럴 때 보통"He really irritates me" 또는 '신경을 건드린다'는 뜻을 살려서 "He's getting on my nerves."
예를들어 '그녀의 태도에 난 정말 비위가 상해.(그여자 하는짓이 정말 역겹군)'라는 표현은 'get'을 써서 "Her attitute really gets me."
자동사'get'을 사용해서 말할 경우에는 'get to someone'이라고 하면 됩니다.
(He failure is reallly getting to him.)
이를 영어로는 "This rotten weather is really getting to me."
