All the forms of popular culture have one thing in common―the message that to be fashionable we must buy things.
Every time something goes out of fashion and something new comes in, it is time to get out the credit card and check book.
When we choose clothes, music, and entertainment, we think we are expressing our individuality.
In reality, we are following the fashions which are forced upon us by the small group of people who control the media and manufacturing companies.
So, being fashionable means spending money.

The process of culture shock is so predictable that its stages have been systematized.
The first is the honeymoon stage, familiar to those of us who love to travel, but never stay in one place long enough to find out what follows.
In the honeymoon stage, the new country and its people seem delightful.
It almost feels more comfortable than home.
Everything is so different and charming, the people are so nice and the customs are so interesting.
Then the bloom comes off the rose.
People start to look shallow, selfish, and stupid.
The different ways of doing things do not seem interesting any more―just boring.
You start to feel exhausted all the time.
Culture shock has set in.

Wendy May, 34, who teaches aerobics in Atlanta, might argue that progress
comes first, then the education of the recalcitrant male:
"The discovery is not that it's sexy to be healthy but that it feels good.
I think most men are frightened by muscles, maybe even by fitness.
Now though, I don't think they have a choice. They may as well decide
it's sexy, because it's here."

When poverty comes in at the door, love flies out of the window.

I'm waiting for my blind date. He appears, sees me, and comes
close to me. In a second his brow relaxes, and his eyes brighten. Why is
this man suddenly so cheerful? I already know the reason: it's because
I'm pretty. And does this little scene make me feel great? Well, yes. But
I'm used to it. I've been pretty most of my life. I know this because
people tell me--both directly and in more subtle ways. There is no
denying the effect of my good looks. As I walk by, men turn and react
appreciatively. I haven't figured out why my looks appeal, but I can't
escape this kind of attention.

What are these charges marked LD?
Those are your long distance telephone charges, sir.

People make predictions about what will happen to them that are based on their ideas of their own ability or value.
For instance, Bill, who is a student, says, "I'll never be able to pass this exam," so instead of studying hard for it, he goes out to parties and dance clubs, and the prediction comes true when he takes the exam.

Most scientists start an investigation by finding out what other
scientists have learned about a particular problem. After known facts
have been gathered, the scientist comes to the part of the investigation
that requires considerable imagination. Possible solutions to the
problem are formulated. These possible solutions are called hypotheses.

- Jack. - What?
- You wanna tell me what's goin' on tonight? - What's going on?
Besides a 747 falling out of the sky and a threat on a presidential candidate's life?
Yeah, that's right. Besides that.

Tell him, Jack.

Why defend something that you don't need to defend?
Maureen won't come out with the story today.

The story's too big to hide.
He's right, Sherry. We need to control when and how this story comes out.
One hour ago someone tried to kill my husband.
That bought us time and we should use it.
The assassination attempt might even work for us if we break the story about Keith.
It might put the public in a more forgiving frame of mind.
- You're making a mistake. - It's mine to make.
No, it isn't, David, because you didn't get here by yourself.
Do not go against me on this, Sherry.
Promise me.
I can't promise you anything.

Look at the end of the follicles.
Oh, yeah. You know, I see like, little tiny seeds or sacs or somethin'.
That's pulp. When human hair is yanked out. Like this...
Ow! Damn, man.
See the seeds...
Hair only comes out in this form when it is either yanked or pulled. Signifying a struggle...

Well. you obviously made bail.
Did you get a lawyer?
I got you and the truth. Who needs a lawyer?

Shannon asked one of us to come out and address an issue with a passenger.
What's the problem, Shannon?
Come on!!
Hello...
Do me a favor go back to coach and make sure no one comes aboard.
Thanks.
고마워

Down, boy.

What can you tell me? Is there saliva on it?
Well, it's going to be tough one to prove.
This is only step one.
You see, when a person talks, saliva naturally comes out of their mouth.

Can you explain these three small vertical dots?
What, where?
That tells me the printer that emitted this letter has a spot on the drum.
A drum goes around three times to print one page.
So if the Anderson's printer was used...
There'd be three small dots on any paper that comes out of it.
No vertical dots.

We're out of answers.
What if no one comes up with anything?
You mean what if she dies?
Yeah.

Pain comes in all forms...
The small twinge, a bit of soreness, the random pain,
the normal pains we live with every day...
- Then there's the kind of pain you can't ignore.
A level of pain so great. That it blocks out everything else...
makes the rest of the world fade away...
Until all we can think about... Is how much we hurt...

This is hard for me, meredith. Well, let me make it easy, then.

I'm not gonna be that woman-- the one who breaks up a marriage or begs you to want me.
You can sign the papers or you cannot. The choice is yours.
Either way, when it comes to this relationship, I'm out.

I told Mrs. Snyder that juliet was an idiot.
For starters, she falls for the one guy she knows she can't have,
then she blames fate for her own bad decision.
Mrs. Snyder explained to me that when fate comes into play,
choice sometimes goes out the window.

The people who build ladders.

- I'm sorry. Just dump out of it. - Will, can I jump in?
- She cannot jump in. - Jump on in, Gwen.

I think the best analogy I can use is Rocky II .
Are you sure that's the best analogy you can use?

Mrs. Lansing, Rocky Balboa was a lefty.

Come the spring, come the
