The @ symbol has been a central part of the Internet and its forerunners ever
since it was chosen to be a separator in e-mail addresses by Ray Tomlinson in
1972.

필자가 경향을 제대로 탐지했는 지 모르겠다.

이 표현은 미국내 한 담배제조회사가 자사의 광고문구에 You've come a long way, baby.라는 말을 쓰기 시작하면서 널리 쓰이기 시작했는데 이 광고 문구는 요즘도 계속등장합니다. 이 담배회사가 노리는 광고 목표는 여성들이 자사의 담배를 피우도록 유도하는것. 그래서 광고문구를 미국여성들의 자부심을 추켜세우는 말인'You've come a long way, baby(아가씨, 참 먼길을 (용케도)오셨군요)를 쓰고, 담배 옆에는 예쁜 여자가 서 잇는 모습을 보이고 있습니다.
