The second category of glaciers includes those of a variety of shapes
and sizes generally called mountain or alpine glaciers. Mountain
glaciers are typically identified by the landform that controls their
flow. One form of mountain glacier that resembles an ice cap in that it
flows outward in several directions is called an ice field. The
difference between an ice field and an ice cap is subtle. Essentially,
the flow of an ice field is somewhat controlled by surrounding terrain
and thus does not have the domelike shape of a cap. There are several
ice fields in the Wrangell, St. Elias, and Chugach mountains of Alaska
and northern British Columbia.

There is a cat with almost as many names as its proverbial nine lives.
Depending on who is doing the talking, it is known as puma, cougar,
cata- mount, panther and mountain lion. And the zoologist may refer to
it as Felis concolor its official name in the Animal Kingdom, so to
avoid confusion, we will simply call it the mountain lion. The mountain
lion can grow up to seven feet
in length and can bring down prey as big as deer. It is the largest
member of the Felini branch of the cat family, so despite its size, it
is more closely related to the domestic cat than to the lions, tigers,
jaguars and leopards of the Pantherini branch of cats. Like the domestic
cat, the mountain lion does not have the Pantherini throat anatomy that
enables it to roar. Mountain lion is actually a misnomer because this
cat can live in almost any environment, and its range is from southern
British Columbia to the tip of South America.
