When the object hit the Earth, huge pieces of the Earth broke off.
These pieces went into orbit around the Earth.
After a brief time, the pieces came together and formed the moon.

The author of the best-selling "A Brief History of Time" is in Bombay to attend "Strings 2001," a conference on the string theory, also called the "Theory of Everything."
베스트 셀러인 “시간의 역사(A Brief History of Time)”의 저자이기도 한 호킹은 “만물의 이론(Theory of Everything)” 이라 불리는 “Strings 2001” 학회에 참석하기 위해 Bombay에 와 있다.
He and others believe that once proved, it may be the answer to conflicting theories on the origin and fate of the universe.
그와 다른 학자들은 이 만물이론이 일단 증명이 된다면, 우주의 기원과 운명에 관한 상충되는 이론에 대한 해답이 될 수 있을 것이라고 믿고 있다.
Hawking said life on other solar systems would be either more primitive or more advanced than on Earth.

"If life is already developing in other solar systems, there is little chance of catching it at the stage at which humans are now," Hawking said.
