Because payments of the principle and interest must be made on time
whether or not the company has been earning a profit, bonds are
considered a safe investment over a long period of time. Stocks, on the
other hand, carry more risk as they are influenced by the conditions of
the economy, but often pay a higher rate of interest. Stockholders
provide the money invested in a business and have a say in making
business decisions and a share of the profits. However, they must also
take part in the losses and cannot receive any dividends until the money
owed to the bondholders has been paid off.

이자를 준다. 주식 소지자는 어떤 사업에 투자할 돈을 공급하여 사업 결정에
발언권을 갖고 이익의 분배권을 갖는다. 그러나 그들은 손실에 대해서도
동참해야 하고 채권 소지자에게 빚진 돈을 다 갚을 때까지 배당금을 전혀
받을 수 없다.
세계적인 경기회복으로 선진국부터 금리가 상승세로 돌아서면 수익률이 낮은 선진국 채권 보유자들이 크게 손해를 볼 것이라는 지적이다.
