Grape seeds are one good example.
If left on the vine, grapes will dry up and become raisins.

Many grapes are grown for wine, so they are picked from the vine when ripe.
They are then boiled or crushed to extract their juice.
The farmers then use whatever remains of the grapes as fertilizer.
Amazingly, many grape seeds survive the crushing and boiling.
When they are inside the soil, the grape seeds take root and grow.
