것이라는 사실을 금방 알 수 있습니다. 즉, "$658 million을

놓았다 (placed)"라고 직역하면 문맥에 맞춰 쉽게 invest로
응용할 수 있는 경우입니다. 내기를 할 때 돈을 거는 것을 bet
(money) on ~으로 표현하는데 이를 place money in (또는
on)으로도 쓸 수 있으므로 이러한 내용을 조금 응용하면 될
것입니다. place가 동사로 쓰이면 '~에 놓다 to put (something)
in (somewhere)' 또는 '~를 상대로 어떠한 조치를 취할 수 있도록
제출, 지급하다 to present before ~ for (consideration,
etc)'라든가 '~을 위한 장소를 찾다 (locate)'와 같은 뜻으로

신청했다는 말이 되는데 여기서 made a purchase order 대신에
place를 써서 He placed a buy order for ~와 같이 사용해도

이와 같이 place가 쓰인 것은 앞에서 말씀 드린 to present
before ~ for의 경우에 해당되는 것으로서 구체적으로 보면 He
presented an order before the broker to buy 100 Samsung
common stocks 와 같이 됩니다. 주문을 낸다는 말을 place an
order라 하는 만큼 발주 그 자체는 order placing이라 합니다.
한 가지 주의해야 될 것은 place an order를 사용하는 경우에
make an order를 사용할 수는 있지만 그 반대의 경우는
어색하다는 것입니다. 다시 말해 He made an order to his
subordinate not to be late any more. (그는 부하 직원에게 더
이상 늦지 않도록 주의하라는 명령을 내렸다.)에서 made를
placed로 바꾸어 쓰는 데는 무리가 있습니다. 따라서 기억하기
쉽게 place an order / order placing은 투자 부문에서 사용되는
용어로 별도로 분류해 생각하는 편이 좋습니다.

implementing agency, with a service thereof with the approval of the

Court Administration Office shall return it to the foreign country with the
reason thereof specified.

⑦피고인의 자백이 고문·폭행·협박·구속의 부당한 장기화 또는 기망 기타의 방법에 의하여 자의로 진술된 것이 아니라고 인정될 때 또는 정식재판에 있어서 피고인의 자백이 그에게 불리한 유일한 증거일 때에는 이를 유죄의 증거로 삼거나 이를 이유로 처벌할 수 없다.
