I'd go for broke. 난 모든 것을 걸었다.
* go broke는 '파산하다' 즉 go bankrupt와 같은 뜻이지만
가운데 for를 갖다붙여 go for broke라고 하면 잘못해서
망하는 일이 있더라도 '모든 것을 걸고 최선을 다한다.'는
뜻으로 일상회화에서 많이 쓰는 말이다. 달리는 자동차 문
밖으로 목을 내밀면 위험하듯이 stick one's neck out은
'위험을 무릅쓰고 무슨 일을 추진한다'를 뜻한다.
risk one's neck도 같은 뜻이다. go out on a limb도
'모험을 하다' 또는 '위험을 무릅쓰다'는 뜻으로 많이
쓰이는 말인데, 글자 그대로는 '한발로 걸어나가다'는 뜻이다.
cf) keep my fingers crossed. 행운을 빌다.

I'm still solvent 난 아직 건재해. 난 망하지 않았어.
* solvent란 원래 '녹는' 또는 '녹이는' 의 뜻을 가진 말이다.
그러나 '지불 능력이 있다' 즉 '재정 상태가 건전하다'는
뜻으로도 많이 쓰인다.
Do you think Mr.Choi's company is solvent?라고 외국인에게서
전화가 왔다면 이 말은 '미스터 최의 회사가 제대로 돌아가고
있냐?'라는 의미가 된다. 이와 반대되는 말은 물론 broke
또는 bankrupt이다.

court receivership 법정관리
- If a company goes into receivership, it becomes bankrupt and the
administration of its business is handled by the receiver
(ex) The company has now gone into receivership with debts of several
million.
법정관리란 기업이 자력으로는 도저히 회사를 살리기 어려울 만큼 빚이
많아졌을 때 법원에서 지정한 제3자가 자금, 기업활동 전반을 대신
관리하는 것을 말합니다. 보통 법정관리를 신청할 때는 대개 기존의
모든 채권 채무를 동결시키는 재산보전처분도 동시에 신청하기 때문에
채권자는 그만큼 채권행사의 기회를 제약을 받죠. 보통 3개월 정도
시간을 가지고 법정관리를 승인하는 것이 합당한가를 심의하게 됩니다.

◆ clever ; adroit, cunning, ingenious
clever는 민첩함과 손재주 또는 소질 등을 강조
My mother is very clever with her hands(=is skilful at making things with her hands).
(엄마는 손으로 만드는 재주가 뛰어나시다.)
She was clever at drawing people out.
(그녀는 남에게 말을 시키는 재주가 비상했다.)
adroit는 어려움에도 불구하고 목적을 달성하기 위해 여러 수단을 능숙 능란하게 사용한다는 뜻을 내포하고 있다.
He is adroit in handling people.

◆ declare 와 announce 의 차이
declare 는 상대방의 반대를 무릅쓰고, 혹은 개의치 않고 하는 자기주장을 말합니다.
