Daniel Defoe wrote a famous story, The Adventure of Robinson Crusoe.
It was about a man who lived on a desert island.
Actually, there was a real-life Robinson Crusoe, who was a sailor.
One day the sailor had a fight with his captain.
He left the ship and stayed on an island off the coast of Chile.
Defoe heard about what the sailor had done to survive in the desert island.
Defoe used the sailor's adventures as a model to write his story.
Robinson Crusoe

There could be no doubt that these long-suffering people were really going to challenge the cruel Empire of Japan.
Although success seemed impossible, I felt honored to be enlisted in the great adventure.
Arriving at Pagoda Park at about 2 p.m., I took up a good position on the opposite side of the street, ready for action.
A steady stream of students was flowing into the park, passing directly in front of the four or five Japanese police.
They had no idea of the purpose of the student gathering.
Suddenly there was a tremendous noise as the suppressed emotions of ten years were released in a deafening shout of “Manse.”
I took snapshots as fast as possible, but as the students were running right at the camera, I knew that the pictures would be disappointing.

The highlight of the adventure came when our van spotted a lion lazily snoring in his sleep.
As the lion woke up, it jumped from beneath the tree and pounded towards the fear-stricken gazelles.
The lion tackled his prey from behind, and the gazelle crashed into the ground right in front of our van.
When I had recovered from the shock, the lion calmly caught his prey in the mouth, and carried it to the nearest tree.
When he feasted on his menu, I could hear the sounds of bones crunching.
When I realized myself in the van, horror in my face disappeared slowly.
I felt like the National Geographic photographer as I took pictures of the lion deeply occupied in his feast.

On Love and Women
Love is the greatest adventure in people's lives.
The heart is the noblest part of human nature.
And the affections are the noblest ingredients in human nature.

My feeling is that one should look upon life as an adventure, one should burn with the hard, gem-like flame, and one should take risks, one should expose oneself to danger.

Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind; it is not a matter of rosy cheeks, red lips and supple knees; it is a matter of the will, a quality of the imagination, a vigor of the emotions, a predominance of courage over timidity, of the appetite for adventure over love of ease.

He thinks about the world, about the adventures that come his way and the more
marvelous adventures that will come his way when he is grown up.

We are now familiar with the notion that the real strength of a nation lies in its industrial power.
The German and Japanese adventures in 1930s and 1940s were built on this premise.
Although the failure of these experiments is not conclusive evidence of the falsity of the premise,
for perhaps Germany and Japan simply misjudged their power, their failure may suggest to us, as indeed all history suggests,
that something more than power is needed if a nation is to become and continue to be successful in any meaning of the word.
The indispensable ingredient is wisdom.

But so many of life's mysteries are capable of and await solution, that an obsession with the final mystery seems hardly necessary or justified.
Life still offers not only the loveliness of the world but also the exciting adventure of living, adding to its fullness and ever making it richer and more complete.

Two conceptions of science embody two different valuations of scientific life and of the purpose of scientific inquiry.
According to the first conception, science is above all else an imaginative and exploratory activity, and the scientist is a person taking part in a great intellectual adventure.
The alternative conception suggests that science is above all else a critical and analytical activity and the scientist is pre-eminently a person who requires evidence before he or she delivers an opinion, and when it comes to evidence is hard to please (Medawar, 1991).

Train travel used to be simply a means of getting from one place to
another. Now, for people with money, it can also offer education or
adventure. The Trans-Siberian Special, for example, is a one-week tour
that runs from Mongolia to Moscow. The train stops in big cities and
small villages so that passengers can go sightseeing, and there is a
daily lecture on board the train, in which everyone learns about history
and culture.

For people who are looking for fun and adventure, there is the Mystery
Express, which runs from New York to Montreal, Canada. This trip
interests people who love Sherlock Holmes, Hercule Poirot, and Miss
Marple. It's for people who have always secretly dreamed of being a
private eye and solving mysteries. The passengers on board have the
opportunity to solve a murder mystery right there on the train. In the
middle of the night, for instance, there might be a gunshot; soon
everyone learns that there has been a “murder,” and they spend the
rest of the trip playing detective. They track down clues, exchange this
information and their opinions, and solve the whodunit by the time the
train has pulled into Mon- treal. Of course, no real crime takes place.
The “murderer” and several pas- sengers are actually actors. The trip
is a very creative weekend game.
