argue는 의논하는 사람이 처음부터 어떤 결론을 갖고 「자기의 생각이 옳다는 것을 예를 들어 차근차근히 논리적으로 증명하려고 주장하고 따진다」는 뜻을 갖는다.
The scientist argued that his discovery had changed the course of history.
debate는 의논의 여지가 있는 부분(debatable point)을 중점적으로 따진다는 뜻을 내포한다.
I debated the question with Mr. Park.
discuss는 talk about something with someone several points of view의 뜻이다.
We discussed what to do and where to go.
