KOSPI: Korea Composite Stock Price Index; 종합주가지수
The Korea Share Price Index (KOSPI) rose to its year-high yesterday,
closing at 666.73 points, a rise of 19.95-points over the day
before, largely due to net purchasing by institutional investors.
어제 종합주가지수가 기관투자가의 순매수에 힘입어 전날보다
19.95 포인트가 오른 666.73 포인트로 마감하여 연중최고치를
기록했습니다.
The previous high for the year was posted last Friday, when the
KOSPI closed at 646.7 points.
직전 최고치는 지난 금요일의 646.7 포인트였습니다.
Yesterday's index also reached the highest level in 18 months,
since September 1997, when the KOSPI closed at 668.45.
또 어제 지수는 668.45로 마감한 1997년 9월 이후 18개월만에
최고치를 기록한 것입니다.
A total of 267.67 million shares worth \2.72 trillion changed hands
before the closing of the bell.

The Korea Composite Stock Price Index, or Kospi, fell 9.51 points to 666.08,
after fluctuating between 686.96 and 665.63.

9.51 포인트가 빠진 666.08로 마감했다.
The tech-heavy Kosdaq index slipped 2.23 points, or 1.87 per cent,
to close at 117.26 in mixed trading.
코스닥 시장은 혼조세 속에서 2.23 포인트 (1.87%) 하락한 지수 117.26으로 마감됐다.
Decliners outstripped gainers 475 to 325,
while 75 issues ended unchanged on KSE, where volume was extremely thin
at 207.9 million shares valued at 1.36 trillion won ($1.22 billion).
거래소에서 475개 종목이 하락한 반면 325개 종목이 상승했고
75개 종목은 보합세를 형성했다.
거래량은 매우 적은 2억 7백 9십만 주였고 거래 금액은
1조 3천6백억원 (12억 달러) 이었다.
A total of 23 stocks rose by the daily 15-percent limits, while 19 ended limit-down.
The main index opened higher on bargain-hunting following recent sharp losses,
but profit-taking set in the afternoon to pull the index lower.
23개 종목이 일일 상한인 15%까지 올랐고 19개 종목이 하한가를 기록했다.
종합주가지수는 최근 낙폭과대 이후 매수세에 힘입어 개장 초 탄력을 받았으나
오후에 형성된 매도세는 지수를 끌어 내렸다.
"Amid a lack of fresh market-moving news, the upcoming expiration
of options contracts dampened the investor sentiment,"
said an analyst at Daishin Securities Co.
"시장에 활력을 불어넣을 만한 새로운 요인이 없는 가운데
옵션의 만기가 도래함에 따라 투자 심리가 얼어 붙었다,” 고
대신 증권의 한 분석가가 말했다.
