Conservatism: 보수주의
급격한 변화를 피하고 현체제를 유지하려는 사상이나 태도로 progressivism
(진보주의)에 대립되는 개념. historical conservatism(역사적 보수주의)과
psychological conservatism(심리적 보수주의) 등으로 나눌 수 있다.
전자는 the French Revolution(프랑스 혁명) 당시 revolution에 반대하여
구질서를 지키고자 했던 영국의 progressivism(점진주의), 독일 낭만파의
aristocracy(귀족정치)로의 복고운동과 연관이 있는 modern political thought
(근대 정치사상)의 특정한 조류를 말한다. 오늘날의 historical conservatism은
대체로 socialism(사회주의)을 지향하는 progressive한 사고방식에 대하여
현재의 capitalism(자본주의) 질서를 유지하고 그 속에서 발전을 꾀하는 것을 말한다.
후자는 어느 시대, 어떤 사회에서나 노인이 청년보다 conservative하다는 것을
나타내는 말이다. 일반적으로 conservatism은 전자, 즉 ideology의 의미를 지닌
political thought(정치사상)의 한 조류를 일컫는다.

무엇보다도, 어떤 언어를 말하는 사람들은 자신의 언어를 잃음으로써 고유한 윤리적, 문화적, 정체성의 상실을 겪게 된다.

One of the main complaints about globalization is that the proliferation of Western styles, products, and tastes may extinguish difference.
