미국의 경우 60년대 히피, 70년대 펑크에 이어 80년대말 이후 나타난
사이버펑크를 대표적 반문화로 보고 있다.
사이버펑크는 세기말적 허무주의에 침윤된 외곬수형 인간을 양산하는
문화로 인식되기도 하지만 이들은 컴퓨터에 능숙하고 오히려 그 기술을
이용해 새로운 유토피아의 가능성을 찾는다는 점에서 이전의 반문화들과는
다르다.
