칭찬해 준 말인데 왜 화를 냈는지 이해가 가지 않는데요?

고 말하면 동성연애자로 오해받습니다.
왜냐하면 cute , pretty 등의 표현은 보통 남성이 여성에게 하는 말이
지 남성끼리 하는 말이 아니기 때문이고 또 그만큼 미국 사회에 동성 연
애자가 많기 때문이기도 하지요.
우리나라에서 흔히 보듯 여자들끼리 손을 잡거나 팔짱을 끼고 걸어도
동성연애자로 오해되기 쉬운데, 이것도 미국 사회에 소위 레즈비언들이
많이 있어서 그들이 이런 모습으로 다니기를 잘하기 때문입니다.
그러면 같은 남성끼리 또는 여성끼리 외모를 칭찬해주고 싶으면 어떤
말을 해야 오해가 없을까요?
" You look great today! " 라고 하면 아무 오해없이 " Thank you."
라는 응답을 받을 것입니다.
