A buddy and I frequently take long walks together. Because he is blind,
I describe to him the interesting sights and people that we pass along
the way.
One day I spotted an exceptionally beautiful woman walking toward us,
and I begun to describe her physical attributes. As the young woman
passed by, I turned to watch so that I could give a complete report
and I bumped hard into a light pole. My friend heard the crash and
stopped. "You walked right into a pole." he said in amazement.
Embarrassed, I sheepishly replied, "Right."
My friend grinned. "Here,"
he said, "you had better take my arm before you hurt yourself."
친구와 나는 함께 산책을 자주 했다. 그는 맹인이기 때문에 길가에 보이는
재미있는 광경이나 사람들에 관해 내가 이야기를 해 준다.
어느 날 대단히 아름다운 여자가 우리 쪽을 향해 오는 것을 보고 그녀의
신체적 특성을 설명하기 시작했다. 그 젊은 여자가 우리를 지나쳤을 때
좀더 자세히 설명하기 위해 돌아서는 순간 전신주에 세게 부딪쳤다.
부딪치는 소리를 들은 친구는 걸음을 멈추고 놀랜 목소리로 말했다.
"전신주를 보지 못했구나."
당황한 나는 겸연쩍게 그렇다고 대답했다.
친구는 히죽거리며 말했다. "자, 다치기 전에 내 팔을 잡는 게 좋겠다."
