장총을 분해하면 크게 세 부분으로 나뉜다. 총의 발사장치인 총기(lock),
어깨에 대고 발사하는 개머리판(stock),그리고 총알이 타고 나가는 총신(ba
rrel)이다. 'lock, stock and barrel'은 총의 모든 것을 총칭하는 말에서 비
롯된 것으로 '이것 저것 모두다'라는 의미를 가진다.
A:How many tooth brushes do you have?
B:Well, we have about 20 tooth brushes of 3 different kinds.
A:Hmm, I'll buy them lock, stock and barrel.
B:Wow, are you going to clean your rifles or something?
A:Nope. All my grandchildren are supposed to visit me and stay with
me for a couple of days.

A:One of my grandchildren just called and told me that
they lost their baggage at the airport.

A:한 아이가 전화를 했는데 공항에서 짐을 잃어버렸답니다.
