In the report, the New York-based group calls for the creation of an international institution with the resources and the power to enforce global labor standards.

Kuwaitis and other residents who went missing during the
Iraqi occupation.

being at the same table together are slim. It is a major
human rights issue, which lives on wherever you look in
Kuwait," said a spokesperson for the "committee of
martyrs," which provides social care for the families of the
missing.

Diversities and values unique to Chinese society and its rich
traditions must be respected and preserved in the way the
grass-roots of Chinese want to keep them. Certainly, a
"moneybag democracy" will not be the kind they would want
to prevail over their long revered social values. On the
other hand, individual freedom and human rights are universal
values China should learn from Western democracies. The
*religious persecutions, *human rights abuses and *forced
abortions widely suspected of being practiced in China today
must immediately be stopped.
중국사회의 다양성과 독특한 가치와 함께 풍부한 전통유산은
존중되어야하고 중국민중이 원하는 방향으로 보존되어야

Gusmao has been serving a 20-year jail sentence since 1993
for plotting against the state and illegal possession of
weapons.
Soares also told the students that the authorities would not
ban rallies at universities. Most protest demonstrations in
this East Timorese capital in recent weeks have been held at
the Timor Timur University.

The Norwegian Nobel Committee said Kim was chosen as the
Nobel Prize awardee for his ``work for democracy and human rights
in South Korea and in East Asia in general, and for peace and
reconciliation with North Korea in particular.''
노르웨이 노벨상 위원회는 13일 김 대통령이 북한과의 한반도 평화와
화해를 이뤄내고 한국과 아시아의 민주주의와 인권 상황을 개선한
공로로 올해 노벨 평화상 수상자로 선정됐다고 밝혔다.

The committee, apparently conscious of North Korean leader
Kim Jong-il, said it wanted to ``express recognition of the
contributions made by North Korea's and other countries'
leaders to advance reconciliation and possible reunification.''
``Kim also showed considerable commitment in favor of democracy
in Burman and against repression in East Timor.''

former Russian Prime Minister Victor Chernomirdin and the Salvation Army.
