Korean institutional investors placed a total of $658 million

달러를 투자했으며 이는 1996년도의 7억 6천만 달러와 비교해 볼

상기 예문은 조금만 생각해 보면 place가 invest의 의미로 사용된
것이라는 사실을 금방 알 수 있습니다. 즉, "$658 million을
외화표시증권에 (in foreign currency-denominated securities)
놓았다 (placed)"라고 직역하면 문맥에 맞춰 쉽게 invest로
응용할 수 있는 경우입니다. 내기를 할 때 돈을 거는 것을 bet
(money) on ~으로 표현하는데 이를 place money in (또는
on)으로도 쓸 수 있으므로 이러한 내용을 조금 응용하면 될
것입니다. place가 동사로 쓰이면 '~에 놓다 to put (something)
in (somewhere)' 또는 '~를 상대로 어떠한 조치를 취할 수 있도록
제출, 지급하다 to present before ~ for (consideration,
etc)'라든가 '~을 위한 장소를 찾다 (locate)'와 같은 뜻으로
사용되는 경우가 많습니다.
주식이나 채권에 투자하는 경우 여러분들이 제일 먼저 해야 할
일은 증권회사를 찾아 주문을 내는 일일 것입니다. 이 때 주문을
낸다는 말은 물론 make an order for ~를 사용하면 됩니다.
따라서 He made a purchase order for 100 Samsung common
stocks라 하면 그가 삼성 주식 보통주 100주를 매입하도록
신청했다는 말이 되는데 여기서 made a purchase order 대신에
place를 써서 He placed a buy order for ~와 같이 사용해도
무방합니다. 오히려 place가 쓰이는 문형을 더 많이 보시게
될지도 모르겠습니다.
이와 같이 place가 쓰인 것은 앞에서 말씀 드린 to present
before ~ for의 경우에 해당되는 것으로서 구체적으로 보면 He
presented an order before the broker to buy 100 Samsung
common stocks 와 같이 됩니다. 주문을 낸다는 말을 place an
order라 하는 만큼 발주 그 자체는 order placing이라 합니다.
한 가지 주의해야 될 것은 place an order를 사용하는 경우에
make an order를 사용할 수는 있지만 그 반대의 경우는
어색하다는 것입니다. 다시 말해 He made an order to his
subordinate not to be late any more. (그는 부하 직원에게 더
이상 늦지 않도록 주의하라는 명령을 내렸다.)에서 made를
placed로 바꾸어 쓰는 데는 무리가 있습니다. 따라서 기억하기
쉽게 place an order / order placing은 투자 부문에서 사용되는
용어로 별도로 분류해 생각하는 편이 좋습니다.

여기서도 알 수 있듯이 place (a) buy order(s)가 매수 주문을
내다로 사용되었습니다만 해석을 조금 자연스럽게 하기 위해
'매수에 나섰다'라고 표현했습니다.
On an outstanding basis는 지난 번에 말씀 드린 outstanding
(눈에 띄는, 실체가 보이는)을 생각하시면 됩니다. 본 예문에서는
'투자 대상이 눈에 보이는 (visible) 상태에 있다'는 말이므로
실제로 발행되어 있는 (already issued) 상태의 증권을
의미합니다. 따라서 on a basis of ~ 또는 on a ~ basis (~
기준으로)와 함께 생각해 보면 발행되어 있는 외화표시증권
기준으로, 즉 '발행 기준'이 됩니다.
증권 관련 기사에서 outstanding issues라는 것을 자주 보게
되는데 이는 기발행되어 유통 중(in circulation / circulating
in the market)에 있는 (주식, 채권) 종목을 의미합니다. 신규
발행 종목(new issue)이나 채권의 경우 만기가 지나 원리금이
상환된(redeemed) 종목(retired issue)와 대비되어 사용되는
말이므로 잘 알아 두시기 바랍니다.

넒은 의미로는 마케팅과 같은 의미로 풀이되고, 좁은 의미로는 상품 계획
또는 판매 활동, 스폰서가 TV, 라디오 광고의 의의를 유통 업자에게 알리는
것이나 신문, 잡지 광고물을 전시용으로 다시 만들어 내는 것도 가리킨다.

어떤 기업이 하나의 상품에 대해서 품질, 포장, 가격이 다른 것을 만들고,
다른 브랜드 또는 유통 업자의 브랜드를 붙인다든지, 브랜드가 없는 상품을

신문광고를 액자에 넣어 메이커 접수처나 소매 점두에 장식하는 것 등이
그 예이다.
소비자 광고
消費者 廣告. consumer ad. 가정에서 소비하는 상품의 고객, 또는 예상
고객에 대한 광고. 산업 광고, 유통 광고, 전문 광고에 대응하는 말.
금융사들에 다양한 데이터정보가 있음에도 관련 법안이 없어 폐쇄적으로 유통되는 한계가 있고, 기업들 역시 제도의 불확실성으로 관련 산업에 적극적인 투자를 하지 못한다는 것이다.

급이나 종류의 수를 결정하도록 요청 받은 경우 분석관은 Diversified
Products사건에서 CIT가 설정한 기준에 근거해 판단해왔다. 5개의
Diversified Product 기준중 4가지 (최종용도, 최종수요자의 기대, 유통
경로, 광고방법)에 관해서 상무부는 상당한 중복을 발견하였다.
In order to properly conduct an antidumping duty investigation or administrative review,
we require certain information from businesses that is generally not released to the public.
Understandably, parties to the investigation or administrative review do not want to
release this information unless we provide safeguards that the data will be protected from
public disclosure. Proprietary classification means that the information is not available to
the public, is used under controlled circumstances in our proceeding, and is available to
counsel for an opposing party only under an APO (see Chapter 3). Under 19 CFR
351.304, the following types of information are examples of information eligible for
proprietary classification:
- business or trade secrets concerning the nature of a product or production
process
- production costs
- distribution costs (but not channels of distribution)
- terms of sale (but not terms to the public)
- prices of individual sales, likely sales, or offers
- names and other specific identifiers of particular customers, suppliers, or
distributors
- names of particular persons from whom proprietary information was obtained.
반덤핑관세 조사나 행정재심사를 제대로 하기 위하여는 대개 일반에는
공개되지 않은 업계의 정보가 필요하다. 또한 당연히 조사나 행정재심사
의 당사자들도 해당정보가 공개되지 않을 것이라는 안전장치가 제공되지
않으면 이러한 정보를 제공하지 않으려 할 것이다. 영업비밀로 분류한다
는 것은 해당정보가 일반대중에는 공개되지 않고, 조사진행 과정에서도
통제상황하에 이용되고, 행정보호명령에 의거해서만 상대측 변호사가
이용할 수 있다는 것을 의미한다. (제3장 참조) 19CFR 351.304에서 다음
유형의 정보가 영업비밀로 분류될 수 있다.
- 생산품의 특성이나 생산공정에 관련한 사업 또는 무역비밀
- 생산비용
- 유통비용 (유통경로는 아님)
- 판매조건 (일반대중에 대한 조건이 아님)
- 개별판매가격, 판매전망가격, 주문가격
- 특별고객, 공급자, 유통업자의 이름과 기타 특별 명세
- 영업비밀 정보를 얻은 특정인의 이름
B. Business Proprietary Information
The description of business proprietary information is addressed in paragraph (c) of
section 351.105 of the DOC's regulations. The regulation states that the following factual
information will generally be regarded as business proprietary information, if it is so
designated by the submitter: (1) business or trade secrets, (2) production costs, (3)
distribution costs, (4) terms of sale, (5) prices of individual sales, likely sales, or other
offers, (6) names of particular customers, distributors, or suppliers, (7) in a AD
proceeding, the exact amount of the dumping margin on individual sales; (8) in a CVD
proceeding, the exact amount of the benefit applied for or received by a person from each
of the programs under investigation or review, (9) the names of particular persons from
whom business proprietary information was obtained, (10) the position of a domestic
producer or workers regarding a petition, and (11) any other specific business information
the release of which to the public would cause substantial harm to the competitive
position of the submitter.
B. 영업비밀 정보
영업비밀정보에 관한 설명은 상무부규칙 제351.105항(c)에 있다. 이 규칙
에서는 제출자가 지정할 경우 다음의 객관적인 사실에 입각한 정보를 통상
영업비밀정보로 간주한다고 설명하고 있다.

나 고용자의 입장 (11) 기타 공표하는 경우 제출자의 경쟁적 지위에 실질적
손해를 끼치게 되는 특정기업정보
개방형 유통(intensive distribution)
제품이 보다 넓은 시장에 도달할 수 있도록 주어진 시장에서 제품을 취급하려는
모든 도소매상들에게 제품을 유통시키는 전략.
경로구성원(channel member)
기업조직의 내부구성원으로서나 독립형태로 유통시스템의 구성원이 되는
중개자를 말하며, 제조기업, 도매상, 소매상, 물류기관 등이 포함된다.
공생적 마케팅(symbiotic marketing)
같은 유통경로수준에 있는 기업들이 자본, 생산, 마케팅기능 등을 결합하여 각
기업의 경쟁우위를 공유하려는 마케팅으로서 협력광고 등이 좋은 예이다.
대리점(agent)
수수료를 받고 구매자가 판매자를 대리하여 유통업무에 참여하며 제품에 대하여
소유권을 갖지 않는 중간상인.
선반도매상(rack jobber)
상품을 선반에 제공하거나 재고비축을 하는 등 대부분의 부가적인 유통기능을
수행하는 도매상.
역 유통경로(reverse channel)
최종사용자로부터 생산자로 이어지는 유통경로.
인프라(economic infrastructure)
정보통신, 운송, 유통 및 재무시스템을 포함한 기업활동 수행을 위한 한 나라의
시설 기반으로서 SOC(social overhead capital)라고도 한다.
전속적 유통(exclusive distribution)
회사의 제품을 제한된 숫자의 중간 상인들에게 특정지역에서 독점적으로 판매할
권한을 주는 유통체계.
제품계열(product line)
유사한 기능을 수행하며 동일한 소비자집단에게 동일한 유형의 유통경로를
통해서 판매되거나, 일정한 가격범위 안에 드는 물리적 기술적 특성이나 용도가
비슷한 제품의 집단.

기존 제품계열에 신제품을 추가하는 것.
중간상(intermediaries)
이익을 남기고 판매를 목적으로 제품을 구매하는 재판매업자를 말하는데, 이들
은 기업이 고객을 발견하거나 판매를 도와주는 유통경로 회사들로 구성된다.
중복유통(dual distribution)
목표시장에 동일한 기본적 제품을 제공하기 위해 2개 또는 그 이상의 유통경
로를 이용하는 것.
직송도매상(drop shipper)
제품에 대한 소유권은 가지나 물적 유통을 취급하지 않는 도매상.
진입장벽(entry barrier)
