Faithful Guide Dog Serves Blind Master in Classroom
강의실의 시각장애자 안내견
In what constitutes a rare scene in the Korean community, a
visually-handicapped college student attending class with his
guide dog has become a hot topic of conversation.
외국에선 심심찮게 볼 수 있는 그러나 한국에선 쉽사리 볼 수 없는
화제거리가 있다. 강의실에서 함께 수업을 받고 있는 시각장애 대학생
과 그 안내견이 화제의 주인공.
Choi Tae-hwan, 29, a sophomore majoring in political science at
Kyunghee University, and his guide dog ``Ungdae'' have become
inseparable.
경희대 정치외교학과 2학년에 재학중인 시각장애인 최태환군(29)과
안내견 '웅대'는 서로 뗄래야 뗄 수 없는 사이.
Unofficial figures show that there are about 10 seeing-eye dogs
which are giving a helping hand to the visually impaired.
비공식 통계에 의하면 국내에서 활동하고 있는 시각장애인 안내견은
약 10여마리 정도라고 한다.

Deer Xing: 산림지대나 자연공원에서 흔히 볼 수 있는 것으로 사슴이
도로로 뛰어들지 모르니 주위를 잘 살피면서 운전하라는
뜻. 미국이나 영국등지에선 공원이나 숲이 우거진 야외도로
를 달리는 운전자들이 자동차의 불빛을 보고 뛰어드는 사슴
을 피하려다가 교통사고를 일으키는 횟수가 빈번하다.
